Early 22 GM Thread! (Trade Ideas here)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I still suggest that a strong trade package can be put together for either Mullins or Reynolds or BOTH.

There is one problem with this idea... we would lose almost all our depth in our organization...

Disagree with this.... utterly disagree..

If we traded for Mullins and Reynolds? Yeah we would honestly since that would cost us likely 8 of our top prospects plus some...

I think you're right, but many of us are in disagreement with those that should be available. I'd throw Marte in with those 2 and he would probably cost a little less.

I never understood this concept of making someone "unavailable". There's nobody I wouldn't trade if the timing and value was right.

It has more to do with the unlikelihood that another team would offer the value required in return for such a player/prospect.

Timing and value are everything, and an organization like Cleveland has to thread the needle. Let's look at JRam for example, if they can extend him then they do it as long as it isn't an albatross that's likely to be regretted in the last 5 yrs of it. If they can't then it gets real interesting because his trade value is significantly reduced the closer he gets to FA.

My scenario would be two trades that netted David Bednar, Reece McGwire, Julian Merryweather, Bryan Reynolds, and Taylor Ward.

Sure. I’m moving the “untouchables” and a starter in a three team deal guaranteed to upset more than a few stomachs.

The three team twelve player deal with Los Angeles and Pittsburg was accepted at the BTV site (didn’t post), though I’m curious how you all would approach it? Have at it. Tampa and Toronto could be the third team too or any team in want/need of a low cost starter (all of them I suppose) and piece(s) that might interest Cleveland and Pittsburg. The latter definitely reduces the choices.

Beyond NRI signings for depth at AAA I’d head into the year with a payroll less than 50M. Hit my targets, why spend more?
Plus I’d be loaded for bear at the deadline capable of filling any hole.

To begin the year I’d run out the top six (Straw, Reynolds, Ramirez, Reyes, Bradley, Rosario) in the lineup daily and mix and match the bottom three.

Looking for Bobby Bradley to start the season hitting #5 is a HUGE risk..
The man runs such extremes of hot & cold at the plate it creates problems for CLE & the opposition.
If he is cold opposing teams will not give Reyes anything close to the plate & then the next domino falls as Reyes starts to press at the plate.

Feel like I said this elsewhere.

They inquired about Reynolds before the lockout at the winter meetings. Price is astronomical. Their wants from Cleveland would make fans blush.
Thank you..........again! It wasn't elsewhere you mentioned it. Maybe not this thread, but most certainly this site.

For some reason I believe Bimbo told us the Pittsburgh asking price for Reynolds (alone) was all 3 of Espino/ Valera/ Rocchio along with 2 other prospects...

'No thanks' is the response from this corner of the peanut gallery.

Same here.

Having Reynolds in our lineup for the next four years wouldn't make me blush.

For a team that relies on the continued supply of low cost talent from the minor leagues to "lop off the top of the tree", four or five deep to expect anything but 70 win seasons.. is fool hardy.. It's not how CleFO operates.. and they're right.. they shouldn't..

70 win (and barely 80 win) teams make me blush..even with only Jose Ramirez at the hot corner.. and when he's gone.. only Reynolds?.. or only "one year wonder" Mullins?.. It's takes a village folks.. it really does in baseball..

First Queue: failure rate discussion of top prospects..

Second Queue: ..impossibility of repeating the rash of injuries to the starting staff..
