I actually feel quite confident that Mobley is gonna make at least 2nd team all-defense as last year he was 5th among forwards behind Jaren Jackson Jr., Giannis, Bam and Draymond and I'd guess he'll at the least pass Draymond given his improvement and our #1 overall ranking.

He should have been on the 2nd team last year as is. Bam played 100% of his minutes at C and I'll be pissed if they do the same thing again.

I think its important to remember that Mitchell hasn't yet played a full season with Mobley and Darius has only played a year and a half. These guys are great passers but unless you are quite literally LeBron or Jokic, it takes a while to get used to the situations where a certain player thrives. To some extent, I am not sure Mobley has quite figured that all out yet either, let alone the rest of the guys. It was frustrating last night, but I expect this to be less of an issue in the longer term

Come on. A year and a half is a long time to play with a guy, you should be learning each other by then.

Granted that Mobley is constantly changing and developing though so what he needed and could do is different now than at the beginning of his rookie season.

Mainly the later point for me. But also, I think it takes a bit longer to develop the feel of what's needed instinctually rather than thinking about it. You need 3+ seasons before it becomes automatic unless you are a savant

Totally agree with this. This is a big brother moment for Mitchell too. He was like,"I'll take care of this", but wasn't realizing little bro had an advantage Donovan didn't.

He does this with Garland sometimes. He ought to space and move off ball and instead he takes the ball out of Garland's hands.

He's used to being a team where he is pretty much the best option every time. That isn't always true here.

This was one of Mobley's best games. He was just exactly what you want as far as aggression. He should have had more and 1s honestly

Lets remember too... closing takes time to learn. Its a common thing for young teams like ours, both in individual games as well as playoff series. While Donovan might be in the "Big Brother" role and has experienced the playoffs multiple times, he was also one of the youngest players on that Utah team with multiple craft vets like Mike Conley and Joe Ingles on the team.

I think a lot of the 4th quarter and end of game inconsistency comes as a direct result of our overall lack of experience (from a HC perspective as well!). Also notice that I said "inconsistency" rather than "struggles" because, even though the Cavs have blown multiple close games in the 4th, they're also still 6-0 in overtime, I believe!

The future is still bright... just stay healthy both from a physical and culture standpoint, and the future is crazy-bright!

Ummmm, damn. Quality basketball related post right there. I'm used to seeing the other stuff from you :)

Lillard ain’t scoring 71 with Mobley defending him all night. He ain’t scoring 30.

Mobley is rolling down the stretch.

Whole lotta love for his left hand jam.
I was happy to see this because most of his dunks are two handed.
I remember watching Tristan Thompson only dunking with two hands which caused a lot of his dunks to be blocked.

On a much smaller level I was worried ghat would be the case for Mobley. Seeing that kind of dunk unlocks a lot of possibilities for him driving to the lane.
If you watch Giannis and even Jared Allen, you see two guys that can get a dunk from anywhere inside the 3pt line by take two steps and extending an arm.
Adding that to Mobley and his shiftiness would make him unstoppable as he continues to get stronger.

I am more than just Olga's pretty face!

Lol... for real - I'm a semi-normal person and a huge Cavs, Browns, and to a lesser extent Guardians fan. Olga is just my schtick (with a dick).
