Get Excited Somewhere Else: John Dorsey

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The only SLIGHTLY comforting thing I can say about Hue Jackson is that when I watch the All-22, holes appear to be opened up by the OL and guys appear to get open when running routes.

With a more competent QB and RB, his offense would probably look a lot better.

That still doesn't fix the hilariously inept clock and timeout management, the maddening personnel usage and a myriad of other issues that Hue has every single week, but I guess it's a start.

HE ISN'T.

Dorsey reports directly to Jimbo.

Hue reports directly to Jimbo.

DePodesta -- who is somehow still here -- reports directly to Jimbo.

What's the common denominator of failure in this equation?
I wish the league would buy out the Browns.

John Dorsey must be a stupid idiot to agree to this setup.

It's semantics, he's going to look like the good guy by giving hue a year and then can his ass because he's not a good coach. Plus he knows he will get a pass in year 1 with hue as a coach. Then he can tell Jimmy that isn't my guy. It was your guy, let me do things my way.

I didn't realize my life is average was still a website and that it includes graphs now. This resume is totally underwhelming.

You serous? That's the furthest thing from an underwhelming draft resume.

In examining the 2013-2016 drafts, in those 4 years collectively he had just 6 top65 picks. We have six alone in the top65 this year alone

All six were hits(Fisher, Kelce, Peters, Dee Ford, Chris Jones, and their starting guard) He also used to second round picks to acquire 5 years of Alex Smith. He also secured Tyreek Hill and special teams pro bowler DJ Alexander late in the draft.

The majority of his "misses" were picks in the 150-250 range(5th-7th round)

When considering the totality of the picks and the Alex Smith trade, that is nowhere near close to underwhelming and is actually somewhere between the range of above average to excellent

Not overly impressive?

In 4 main years(2013-2016) he had six total picks in the top 65 and nailed all six of them. We have six picks in the top 65 this year alone.

He also drafted or assisted in drafted Tyreek Hill and Kareem Hunt in the late rounds.

The majority of his "misses" while with the Chiefs we're in the 150-250 pick range(5-7th round)

He was also a key part of a very successful GB scouting/drafting team for over a decade.

With DePodesta still involved, Jimmy recognized/felt that a better balance was needed. DePodesta/Sashi may have been too redundant in terms of bold long term draft strategies.

Who knows though. Could be a lot more to shake out.
Dee Ford was a nailed it pick how?

We’re going to count Eric Fisher as a nailed it pick with the #1 overall? Wew

Even if you count them as hits like 8/30 something picks, or what must people would say is incredibly average.

That's only one year of drafting. Where is the rest?

I see good offensive sets, I just (like you said) do not see them being called at the right moment or being executed.

An OC would be of great benefit. I do not know if i'd have kept him another year but what choice do we have at this point?

Does he lean on veterans too much?

The Browns have the youngest roster in the NFL. Bringing in Dorsey could make for a dramatic swing in direction, reminiscent of when former coach Eric Mangini emphasized veteran players over youth.

Just last weekend, as the Chiefs suffered a 38-31 loss to the New York Jets and plummeted to a 6-6 record, Dorsey’s name came up. The reason? Tamba Hali had been inactive for the second time in three games.

This take from The Kansas City Star’s Blair Kerkhoff brought up Dorsey:

“Tamba has had a terrific career. He’ll be in the ring of honor. But unless something drastic changes, the last part of his career is going to be remembered as the most obvious point of reference about John Dorsey’s mistakes.

“I believe this, by the way: where Dorsey probably erred on trusting vets too much, I believe Brett Veach is going to be on the opposite side. I think he’s going to want to get younger, and be willing to walk away from guys a year too early rather than a year too late.”

This could be a red flag going forward. I really wish they kept Sashi since he could cover for his weakness. Sashi was not perfect but he covered his bases in free agency.

Were not the ones constantly making stupid comments. I keep seeing "yeah, but 1-27 lolz"

Dont think I ever said that, but it is what it is. Talking about how everything looks great when you are historically bad is, well, stupid. Sashi would tell you right now that their record wasn't good enough. That combined with his and the organization's ineptitude in things like, um, trades (botched) and missing on franchise talent (Wentz, Watson) in favor of lesser players, got him canned. For the umpteenth time, Hue should have gone with him, but I don't own the team.

Like I said in the other thread, people were fooled into believing this team has to go damn near winless for three years and "tank" for top picks. It just isn't the case, not in my eyes.
