Guardians find new minority owner

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Minority owner.

No control, just a cash influx and gets to use the owner's box, owners meeting and go anywhere he wants at the facilities when in Cleveland.

He might not give a fuck about the Guardians, but that is fine with a minority owner, he is just cash. Basically he is the Guardians Sugar Daddy like I am @sportscoach 's Sugar Daddy.

Shit, you are a bad sugar daddy, I need money and you havent given me or my mom anything...

Can someone more educated on David Blitzer explain to me why it's a good thing that a guy who has his pen dipped in half a dozen sports leagues is on track to become the next owner to the Cleveland Guardians? Is this guy actually going to give a shit about the team, or is this 100% investment motivated?
This is something that concerns me as well. I much rather have someone like John Sherman or someone who wants a piece because they want to own a sports team, simply because it's a sports team.

Someone gobbling up bits and pieces of professional sport teams as some sort of complex investment portfolio doesn't sound like someone who cares much about winning/losing and the fans themselves.. Unless the ROI is acceptable.

To each their own, but I'd rather not have anything to do with Blitzer at this point.

Look at the money flowing in now!

So Rob Manfred is excited to see a new owner in Cleveland, hmmm....

So I assume this portends a trade deadline spending spree? Who do folks have on their shopping list? I like that one idea to go get Montas and Laureano from the As.

I am not sure I am a fan of Blitzer, in fact pretty sure I am not.

From MLBTradeRumors:

According to The Athletic, Blitzer will own somewhere between 25% – 30% of the team initially. Of greater interest is that he’ll have an option to acquire a majority stake six years from now, as Jon Heyman of the New York Post tweets. The sale price of the deal has not been announced.

I mean, he invests in pro sports teams, that is, he expects a profit. We have been lead to believe that the Dolans actually lose money in competitive years; if that's the case, I don't really see Mr Blitzer improving payroll beyond where the Dolans do, assuming that the Dolans are being truthful about what they earn. I also see a 6 year plan... Seems long enough for the city to get the renovations done and for Blitzer to work on his bigger real estate scheme. Wonder if either of those things gets delayed if he then backs out?

No worries right now, Dolans locked us into The Jake until 2036. After that, then worry if attendance doesn't change.

Well, you bitch about literally everything so that’s no surprise.
