Harden to the Nets, Cavs part of the package

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
At some point soon father time is gonna hit LeBron, or he's leaving to play with Bronny.

Without picks, there's little flexibility to build a strong contender around AD. To stay competitive, they'll have to thread the needle.

Their best bet will probably be trading AD shortly after LeBron leaves.
So? They already have a title. Barring injury they will be favorites to come out of the West for two years at least. That’s a nice window considering that franchise wasn’t going anywhere before LeBron showed up.

Nobody wants a borderline personality problem on their team! I wouldn’t be surprise if a year or so down the road the Nets explore trading Cryie

Give the report above about the Rockets not wanting Kyrie in the Harden deal, it seems that's happening already.

Not sure what they could get for him now, even much less than Harden. He isn't playing, and there doesn't appear to be any timeline on when he might return. A team could rightly fear that they'd trade for him, even with his approval, and he'd never suit up for them. Or play for awhile and then just...quit.

I'd be really curious to know how much of a weirdo vibe the Cavs, internally, were detecting from Kyrie in the summer of 2017.

Kyrie is apparently willing to sit out the entire season. Wow.

The more I think about it, the more I realize this wasn't just about building a Three Star lineup but a hedge to keep Durant happy with what Kyrie is doing. In that case, I think it was a solid move. But they have to move Kyrie and get something to replace the bench they lost.

Yeah might be worth trading him to replenish depth. I understand they need a center... lol

How the worm has turned. I have seen Celtic fans lamenting they didn't get Collin Sexton instead this year. The lack of Value we got for Kyrie, has sort of turned into a haul especially compared to his current value. We got a top 10 scoring guy in the league , Larry Nance, and some of that return was even turned into Jarrett Allen because Clarkson became Exum became Allen. Sexton, Nance, Allen might be a case where the quarters add up to more than a dollar when that Dollar is always hurt and uncoachable.

We also got his best playoff performances so far from Kyrie.

We have a backup pg spot open if he wants to play ball again.

It is really astounding the depths of his entitlement. He's acting like Harden, but he has never come close to Harden's impact.

I actually think Harden was playing ruthless business man sticking it to the organization. I am honestly more worried about the mental health of Kyrie. He seems delusional. He should be trying to rehab his image, but he keeps making it worse.

On the other hand Boston certainly regrets trading for Kyrie. A good chuck of our current roster stems directly or indirectly from that trade.

It's incredible that Ainge is rightly criticized for not using his picks to acquire anything good, but when he finally shoots his shot in the Kyrie deal, he gets nothing out of it.

That Brooklyn deal was seen as a complete haul at the time, but he didn't get a lot out of it. He got more in his trade down in the Fultz Trade.

I don't know how you move him. At this point, no one is gonna think "yep, WE'LL be the team to turn Kyrie Irving into a happy-go-lucky guy who wants to play."

He gets criticized here but I don't think anywhere else.

Think about the guys he "should" have traded for.

Jimmy Butler. Jimmy Butler, after being traded, forced his way off of that team after 1 season, then left the next in free agency.

What are the odds that he'd still be in Boston? Not good.

Meanwhile, Tatum and Brown are both currently averaging over 25 points a game and Boston is 1st in the East. So like...................................................

Kawhi and David. Maybe neither stay. Harden right now.

There is a lesson to be learned though. Those picks don't amount to much after they are made unless you somehow hit a home run. I don't even hate their guys, but Grant, Langford, and the pu pu platter aren't getting you a star.

Maybe you are right and anyone would have left, but the picks were more valuable before they were made and I think Koby just proved that. I like that he has not overvalued them and made them untouchable.

Yea but in all of those deals the other teams always wanted at least either/or between Brown and Tatum.

ANd yea, gotta say, probably the right move to keep both of those guys over any of those three. Kawhi most definitely doesn't stay. George...who knows. I mean he signed in OKC and then immediately asked to be traded. Granted, OKC didn't have to move him. They did it because they wanted to.

Butler...who even knows. But I'd say odds are high he'd have left too.

Celtics have a pretty stable culture and are going to keep winning. Just different situation than OKC or even Philly IMO. Kawhi left a situation like that and IMO cost himself another shot at a title.
