Ignore everything I’m about to say if I’m misunderstanding what sports psychologists do but…

Some people are just wired different. I know you know that, but just saying.

Dude tends to plants and is a nerd (not a bad thing). He picks opponents up when they fall on the ground mid-game. Seems like a guy that’s pretty happy with who he is too. Can’t really say just watching, just guessing.

Feel like you’d have to convince him that his very nature is a flaw if you send him to a psych.

Granted, it IS a flaw from a competitive standpoint because it fucking hurts your teammates when you do that against uber competitive people who are dying to take advantage of it.

I’m just saying this to say that I’m not sure sending him to a sports psych would do it. I think you might have to change his role on the floor or trade him to a team that plays differently.

He just strikes me as a guy that LIKES playing like that. Which sucks.
That's a good point. I think there are times when he seems nervous and out of his comfort zone. I think when that happens he freezes. I hope that would be something he could overcome so he can play how he wants to regardless of the opposition. Right now he does look scared sometimes.

I like a lot of what is being said here. I was as frustrated as everyone else Sunday, but I decided not to post about it until I could muster a level-head.

The Knicks are playing much more physically than the Cavs. They are chipping and holding. This is the playoffs so you can't be too surprised, especially in the Garden on their home floor.

But the price is paid with Allen looking physically broken after two games in less than 72 hours. He played big minutes while Hartenstein and Robinson are being kept fresh. Together they can put in effort and frankly take risks that Allen and Mobley cannot. I can say the same about the rest of our Big Four be side they are also playing extremely inconsistently and look beat up as well.

The Knicks have quality depth, so they can run nine or ten guys out there. As Cavs fans we can fool ourselves into thinking our depth are good... but just because I don't believe Cedi and Rubio should be playing big meaningful roles doesn't mean the end of our bench could do better.

The Cavs have a nice talented young core... but depth is severely lacking and cost us dearly in the fourth.

I'm not a JB fan, and would love an upgrade, but I really can't sit here and say he's why we're losing this series.

He's actually been put in a pretty tough situation, because guys just aren't performing. It was the right call to stick with Allen last game. I was even thinking maybe he should pull him, but JB got that right.

Pull him for what? Lopez, gosh, we'd be done no matter what if that is the case... If we still had Kevin Love... That one really hurts.

I wish they had signed Diakite instead of Merril. This was why. You could have Diakite out there for a few min, he is physical, and he will shoot 3's. That would really change things.

People prob think I am crazy for this, but Diakite runs the floor faster than Mobley or Allen. Play a small lineup with Diakite and Mobley.

They need to think about Wade too. I agree the 2 Centers for the Knicks are sort of being left off the hook.

It was also good when the guards got them in foul trouble, but they didn't attack the bigs in the paint the past 2 games

I think the Cavs learned that JA is not a good 40 minutes player. I think that is the crux of it. Its why playing Lopez 5 minutes a night is worth it if JA gives better effort at 33-35 minutes.

This is all stuff you have to prime for in the regular season.

You have to be willing to eat some Ls to see if you can potentially use a guy like Diakite in the postseason.

Needs to get in the weight room this offseason and put on some pounds. Too skinny/weak for a playoff center.

That’s never going to happen. He’s going to keep doing what he’s been doing until someone calls him out.

Is he injured ? Wtf series was that. Very very weak effort

He’s not going to lose a lick of sleep over this either. He’ll probably walk out of the arena with that same goofy doofus looking smile of his that he always has.

Nets knew what it was with him.

So I posted months ago that Allen will never be an all star again, and I could easily name 30 players in the East that are better than him. Took a lot of heat from people for it. He’s worse than even I thought. I mentioned Brunson as being a better player and this one dude thought I was crazy.

The reason we were okay putting up with the lack of spacing of Allen and Mobley was that Allen provided defense & rebounding. Well, what now? We don’t even need to go into how much he got destroyed on the board. The Knicks players did NOT care that Allen was protecting the rim and went at him, whether it’d be Hart, Barrett, or Randle (and succeeded).

We know from the article that came out earlier this season that Allen doesn’t really play basketball in the summer i.e. he doesn’t really work on his game. This is fine in that we’d all love to take time off work if we were given the option. But this also means he’s likely not gonna be adding anything to his game in the offseasons. My bet is that the JA you see today is likely almost the finished product. I wouldn’t bank of him adding a mid range shot or something.

So if Mobley’s the future, are Allen’s offensive limitations and spacing issues he creates worth it?

The scared 5ft jump hook that missed the rim entirely summed up this guys series

Wondering what’s the possibility of get Ayton, think Allenn and Ayton would make sense for both teams.

Cavs get a Center who can hit consistent midrange shot meaning we open up a bit more space space in the paint, also just generally more talented offensive player which is sorely needed. We still have Mobley to lock down the paint.

Suns get better defensively, add much needed paint defense and somebody they can try guard Jokic. Allen’s also a great lob target to pair with Paul and Booker.
