Allen is a chill dude. He jsnt going to be the one starting meaningless fights like Fillion breks

I think you are overlooking how much Markkanen helped Allen's game. Markkanen provided spacing and took a guy out of the paint, and I know some don't want to admit it but the the paint is Allen's entire offensive game. A third of his baskets are on dunks, and 88% of his baskets are within 10 feet. Take away Lauri put in Okoro, and suddenly there's another defender clogging the lane, and that's where Allen lives.

Spacing is the #1 problem on the team, no doubt. Team was already deficient in shooters and sent 3 guys out who can shoot for 1.

Allen was moved further from the basket this year to get Mobley's offense going too. Year before last he was always in the dunker's spot, now Mobley is.

Cavs championship chances are directly tied to Mobley having at least one go to move in the painted
area along with a reliable jumper from 8-15 feet. Let the 3 shot come along afterward. 3's are nice
but players who can shoot lights out on 2's will always be in demand.

Mobley is still at the stage of getting down the mechanics and muscle memory to operate outside
the dunk zone.

As for Allen, he didn't play much like a core piece, though looks can change with a change
in personnel.

How is it that he hasn't developed any kind of go to move he can use away from
the basket?

Cavs need a player who has an appetite for rebounds like the Cookie Monster has
for the sweet treats.

Cavs must realize that the regular season is the time to stretch players out to what is
expected for ultimate success, even if it means losing a few games during the regular season.

Of course, that requires using non-starters enough minutes to keep them sharp and rest
starters so they can max out during their minutes.

I have no hope in Allen developing his game at this point. And I don’t understand why he is at the elbow and Mobley in the dunker spot. JA for some reason has a reputation as a good passer when he’s actually terrible.

I wonder if the Spurs would want him to pair with Wemby. Poeltl is gone and JA/Wemby could be quite a pairing and wouldn’t hinder them on offense as much as JA/Mobley does for us. Spurs have cap space to take on JA while giving us one of their rookie contract players.

He has been a good passer from what I have seen on tape

He has a 14 foot jumper he did not utilize at all except for a few terrible misses in that series.

No just cause he can occasionally hit a midrange jumper doesn’t mean he has it. He is just a constant rim scorer and doesn’t look to attack outside of 3 feet.

He is soft and his game is soft.

This is not someone that is going to just go into beast mode one day. I certainly can’t vision any improvements in his game as well.

I think we have a maxed out performer here. Some nights good for 14&14 and some nights good for 6 & 5

I’m all for making him a backup big on this team but if the Cavs can move him for a more productive piece whether it’s a 3 team deal or straight up - I wouldn’t hesitate.

Trading Jarrett Allen makes sense. Cap dumping him which seems be what your suggesting doesn't make sense.

If you're going to trade JA, you need at least one starter back. Dumping him just to dump him for picks or back-up players is silly. Ideally, you would want a starting SF along with another center or stretch PF/C. If you can't get those, then you don't move him.

I can't see getting both of those for him. My thought is get one by trading him (probably a SF because trading big for big will be tough) and the other one with the MLE. Then use your other exception and potential trade chips (Okoro, Osman, second round picks, maybe LeVert in a s+t) in some fashion to add shooting.

Of course. I don’t think those of us in the camp of trading JA are suggesting just getting rid of the player for the sake of it. It’s more so about getting a piece that fits better around the offensive talent that we have— also gives Mobley the ability to grow and play in space as well….b

And quite honestly he’s really the only realistic trade piece the Cavs have of any value. You’re not getting rid of the big 3 and nobody else possess enough potential value to net anything in return.

My concern is if we trade Allen, our defense will crater. JBB would never have it.

Definitely, however what’s the point of being a good defensive team when you don’t even reach 100 points 4/5 playoff games
