The Steelers bolstered their defense, agreeing to a trade for inside linebacker Joe Schobert with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Steelers are giving the Jaguars their sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft in exchange.​

Schobert, who is entering his sixth NFL season, has recorded 535 tackles, 326 solo stops, 26 quarterback hits, 21 tackles for a loss, 11 sacks, 24 pass defenses and nine interceptions.​

Schobert spent the 2020 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, after playing his first four seasons in the league with the Cleveland Browns. He finished last season with a team-high 141 tackles, included 84 solo stops, two and a half sacks, six tackles for a loss, four pass defenses, and three interceptions, including one he returned for a touchdown. He also had two forced fumbles.​

Schobert was drafted by the Browns in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, playing in all 16 games his rookie season and finishing with 16 tackles and 12 special teams stops.​

Nice to see a GM combing the league to see if we can find someone to compete, doubtful Scales is the answer, but I bet a LB who is cut to make the 53 roster somewhere in the league ends up making our roster as our backup MLB.
