I believe Andre here. Now his agent may have said a lot ever since Beilein was hired. Love reportedly hated him since he met him in summer league.

Also, it just doesn't wash with Beilein beginning those convos and giving up money. If Beilein felt forced out by Andre, he'd ask for his whole contract.

Doesnt get much more embarrassing than a coach quitting with 30 games left.. hopefully this is rock bottom and its all up from here..
Maybe it will force the players to take a long look in the mirror and change at least part of their approach with the next coach. The team needs to buy in to the coach, not the other way around (unless you have Lebron).

IMO, If this is the case and this incident was never smoothed over with the players then this falls squarely on the Koby. You either get rid of the players who are that immature or you read the locker room (hello Mr. Griffin) and come to a mutually split early January. To be fair to Koby, Dan was unhealthy and it's a big call considering it's his hire (article cites that Gilbert denied he made the call on Beilein fwiw).

I don't think it's fair to blame Koby -- he had to give both Beilein and the players a reasonable amount of time to see if they could get over this before pulling the plug. And I think if Koby had pulled the plug on Beilein too soon, it might have had some negative repercussions around the league. The way it played out, it seems like everyone acknowledges it was a bad fit, and that Koby wasn't just pulling the plug on a guy too soon.

The All-Star Break seemed like a good time to do this.

It's not fair to blame anyone but Beilein. The media will portray it as the Cavaliers being dysfunctional. But the truth of the matter is Beilein was in over his head and quit. If this was mutual or the Cavs firing him he would be pocketing money not walking away from it. Media just wants a story and blaming the Cavaliers will get lots of attention instead of the truth which is Beilein quit.

Alright I know it sucks because it happened to my team but that article was actually hilarious in highlighting his ineptitude. I mean, the players playing songs with Thug in them is funny, Beilein being completely baffled by players resting in preseason cracks me up, and his complete lack of any type of plan post Clarkson just really solidified that he wasn’t cut out for professional basketball. Good guy, will probably find success in college again, but good lord he was completely lost in the NBA.

In a weird way it worked out really well for him because he saved his boss a ton of money and is somewhat absolved of the blame with Beilein deciding to step down on his own. Based on the information in the article, these players were not going to get over this specific incident regardless of how much time had passed. If they liked or admired Beilein then they would've easily given him benefit of the doubt (heck I don't even think it's leaked). It's an unenviable situation involving a coach he didn't hire with the man who did tending to personal health matters. He was in a tough spot but I would've personally found the best deal possible for Love by the deadline. I think this is what broke Beilein because he probably anticipated some subtractions.

Besides the "thug" stuff the reliance on Clarkson and concerns after his trade was really baffling to read. The team was 9-21 (0.300) with Clarkson and 6-19 (0.240) without him. His fit on this team long-term with Sexton and Garland didn't make much sense and Koby was right to offload him.

Regardless, the blame goes up the chain to Koby & Dan for hiring a bad fit and creating a lousy culture.

Maybe Clarkbar was one who bought into him..I've read nothing that was a issue between the two like the others had.

They hired Beilein to fix the culture and Beilein responded by calling the team thugs and quitting. So Beilein actually made the culture worse when he was brought into establish a culture. That's not on Koby or Dan. That's 100 percent on Beilein.

I doubt it considering how close he was to Kevin Love but you never know. Props to Clarkson though for professionally playing his way off this team.

I don't understand, why people want to absolve the owner and Koby any responsibility. The owner was the one that approved the hire and Koby was the one that brought Beilein here.

What's so hard about it?
