Lindor trade ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I honestly have no idea who will end up with Lindor. I also have no idea what the Indians expect in return.. I think it really comes down to what the tribe "wants"... Such Insight!!!

What I mean is, I think teams will be wiling to part with more higher rated prospects that are further away from the show. The more ML ready the return becomes the overall quality diminishes. I have a feeling in regards to Lindor they will seek "quality" over "quantity" which means some of our immediate ML concerns will likely not be addressed by Lindors trade return, at least for a year... But we should end up with a couple of highly rated prospects.

Blue Jays signed Guirrel to a team friendly contract and honestly it is Grichuk I would want to move somehow (from the Blue Jays perspective) not Guirrel. Also Guirrel has had some injury issues so thats another question mark as well. If I am Shapiro, I would do everything possible to keep Guirrel, and find a way to move Grichuk.

Just my opinion of course and I wouldnt be against getting Guirrel back in a trade at all, just not sure if Toronto will move him
Grichuk coming back instead of Lourdes.. would be a deal killer for me.. A $ 10 MM AAV salary for a guy who approaches 100 wRC+/<1.0 WAR player entering into his year 30 season with three years to go.. isn't what tribe fans should consider as a return for Francisco Lindor.. The rest of the deal, Jordan Groshans and Adam Kloffenstein.. create depth and ability.. Lourdes is a better fit..

We'll agree to disagree..

Part of the reason only an immediate / position specific player like Lourdes Gurriel Jr was the primary target.. with the other pieces of the deal at least 2022 or later.. Quality guys.. that's a good thing...

I’m all in on Bohm if Tribe could somehow persuade Phillies to let him go. Meh to Senzel and Adell.

No chance we can get Bohm from Philly for one year of Lindor, unless the new Phillies GM wants to guarantee he'll have a new job in four years.

Senzel is extremely injury-prone, so I would be bummed if he were the centerpiece of a deal.

Here are Adell's peripheral numbers via Baseball Savant:

His xBA was in the bottom 1% of the league. Yikes.
However, he's still very young, his MLB sample consists of only 124 ABs and he came into 2020 as a top-10 prospect in all of baseball.
If Dombrowski is the next GM of the Angels, I'd hope that the Tribe would take advantage of his M.O.: trading top prospects for superstars.

My dream scenario is the Tribe pits the Mets and Yankees in a bidding war for Lindor, and Steve Cohen greenlights a package that would send Dominic Smith, Andres Giminez and Brett Batty to the Tribe.

I could see JD Davis there instead of Smith

I think you guys are really overrating a lot of these Mets players.

JD Davis should not move the needle for anyone as a primary piece in a Lindor trade. Baseball Ref has his career WAR as 0.2. FG likes him a bit more at 2.3. But he really doesn’t play a lick of defense and has had one good year at the dish

Dom Smith is a bat-first 1B/DH only guy. We already have two of those guys on this roster in Naylor and Reyes

Nimmo is a platoon corner OF

I believe all three guys are arbitration eligible this winter as well so the cost-certainty factor goes out the window for the Tribe right there.

Gonna have to get a little more creative than this guys....

Why i was wanting Jeff McNeil, plus 2 of their top 10 prospects and at least one of their catching prospects (thinking Ali Sanchez cause he fits the defensive first)

Since we have Reyes, Davis and Smith from the Mets make no sense to me.

That’s why I earlier proposed McNeil and Nimmo (.888 OPS) as the return.

One overlooked potential trade partner could be the Nationals. Two of their MLB ready top prospects could be available: Carter Kieboom and Victor Robles. Neither has proven themselves at the MLB level but both are young, have sterling minor league resumes, and are former consensus number one organization top prospects. After a dismal 2020 season, could the nationals be itching to make a big splash?

I could be way off, but I genuinely don't think the Indians are going to prioritize getting MLB players for Lindor at all. Nor should they IMO.

The main thing I think they're going to look for multiple years of team control.

I think you are way off. They are not looking to start a rebuild with what many consider to be the best pitching staff in baseball. However, they will be looking for multiple years of control, but that's really nothing new now is it?

I expect the Lindor trade to fill at least 2 current areas of need on the MLB roster, and at least one will certainly be an OFer that can hit.

I really go the opposite way with this.

If the playoffs remain expanded to 8 teams per league, which it sure seems like they will be, I have a suspicion the Indians feel their pitching is going to be more than good enough to get one of those 8 spots whether they have Lindor or not.

So to that end, I really think they will skew towards prospects over MLB players.
