Let's get this started!!!! Bare bones addition to start! Lol

Schedules!

Iowa Cubs are in Columbus to face the Clippers AAA

Portland Sea Dogs are in Akron to face the Rubberducks AA

Fort Wayne TinCaps are in Lake County to face the Captain High A

Our Lynchburg Hillcats are in Charleston to face the Riverdogs!

A couple of postponements for today 5/2/23

Col vs. IOW - PPD
LC vs FW - PPD

We need some stats here going into week of 5/1

Columbus is 12-14

As a team they have a .282/.392/.458 batting slash, and essentially are top 5 in almost every hitting category in their league.. ERA though is 7th and they have essentially cough up a ton of walks, which is part of the reason why they have the 14 losses...

Akron is 9-11

As a team they are hitting .203/.312/.328 aka just about last... Pitching wise they have a 3.58 ERA, but lead the league in BBs...

The pitching hasn't been a problem, they just aren't hitting... Only have 3 qualified hitters, hitting over .200, so they are struggling with the bat... With LC hitting really well on paper, some transactions may happen...

Lake County is 13-7

They are hitting .253/.344/.369 and is one of the better teams in their league offensively... Pitching on the other hand 4.58 ERA... Dead last... and some other categories including walks, aren't good...

Lynchburg is 10-11

They are hitting .258/.378/.350 so top 5ish in their league... 4.78 ERA which is bottom 5, plus towards the bottom in SOs...

Hillcats are coming out swinging... 3 runs in the first

@Tondo

Am I allowed to say Furman is a left handed Tyler Freeman with the bat?

I've been referring to him as Ernie Clement PLUS at the plate and Ernie Clement MINUS in the field myself.

I think he will end up better than Clement... Even if he ends up near Clement, that's not a bad pick by Cleveland.

Zapata with his first bad outing of the season at Lynchburg...

Better than Clement at the plate. Worse in the field. Pretty sure Furman is a pure 2nd baseman and a questionable/average one at that.

Defense part we shall see... I always wait until AA to pass or fail a prospect in a sense, but it's going to be hard to keep him at Lynchburg...

Will Akron be another PPD?

I hope not, I want to see what Cantillo brings.

A dominant performance will get me barking for a promotion, especially considering some of the starters we currently feature in Columbus.

Not arguing against a Cantillo promotion, but I ask the following questions:
1) Who back-fills the spot in the Akron rotation?
2) Does his move up hurt Akron's chances at a post-season spot??

In a perfect world all 4 full season minor league clubs will make it to the post-season & that provides more development opportunities for all the players on the team, not just a select few.

the weather seems to be clearing.. enough to play.. but we're not talking warm breezes and balmy conditions...

1. Will Dion is ready for AA IMO. Also Andrew Scott could get "demoted" - and the org solider - Jaime Arias could take his spot.
2. Maybe - but as a rostered "repeater" in AA - that shouldn't be a factor in his case.

maybe option Plesac there.. he might learn putting pitches up in the middle of the plate fly just as far when MiLB'ers are swatting them...
