MLB Trade Deadline thread!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Coach: I agree with you but he seemed to smuggle address the reporters or maybe I’m overly sensitive to admin. speak. BTW Coach, how did the hand surgery go? Glad to see you “typing” on the board.

A bit overly sensitive plus it was political talk like always. It's easy not to like that to be sincere

I get my surgery in a few minutes. It's been a pain this morning lol

I found this front office interview very oft-putting, even condescending. “Couldn’t find that perfect fit.”

I found it to not be oft-putting or condescending at all. What about it gave you that vibe? What I took from the interview was that they have put a lot of time and effort into building a fantastic system that is currently and will continue to "bear fruit". Me personally, I'm on board with that 100%.

I was upset that they didn't add to the upper levels of the farm. I wanted them to deal Amed(who clearly didn't have a market), and any SP not named McKenzie. The market wasn't there or the return wasn't sufficient. He not only did his job, but he did it well IMO.

Good points. I guess I flash back to my former corporate office environment where management always talked in platitudes but never really addressed the core issues at hand. I also default back to the Shapiro era press conferences where literally 20 minutes was spent with almost zero information divulged.

The amount of information divulged by CA in this conversation with the media was minimal in specifics and large in terms of general approach of the organization. The types of questions asked were partially responsible for this.. That might be due to a long history of the club NOT THROWING THE BABY OUT WITH THE BATH WATER.. CA is not going to confirm or provide details of a failed deal as the guys in the deal.. are still here. Telling the world the club was willing to give up on you (for the greater good of the club) does not set well with those players as there is a trust or a part of a trust that is broken..

On the whole.. the best part of this presser was the Sandy Leon promise that was kept.. The return, per CA, was the guy was a depth piece.. no more..no less.. but it did provide Sandy Leon with fulfilling the promise of not standing in his way if a chance to play in the big leagues presented itself.. Bravo for him..

I think we need to remember that CA and MC probably used this deadline as a means of laying groundwork as well. I do understand your frustration with the lack of specifics and you're not alone in that regard. So often I question what they do without considering the other side of the equation. It "takes 2 to tango" is fitting here.

Yes, and yesterday and past few days were the work of vets for vets or vets for prospects. Only the Marsh/O'Hoppe was a prospect for prospect per se (but Marsh had a few chances already). No GM is spending time to try to push through a prospect/prosect deal during a crazy 72-96 hrs. That is why Bimbo said the Reds had a deal for vet/prospects that they just pulled the trigger on to move on instead of hoping a crazy 3 team trade with Guard could be worked out in time, especially as they had a few players moving (just wanted to end it and have a beer I am sure and call it a day).
