Not Ashamed to Admit We Were Wrong on...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We can nitpick the negative yards and his perceived weaknesses but the guy is averaging 127 yards/game.

Probably not the best value at #2 when your starting QB has been done for about 3 years now, but Barkley had been very good and should only get better.

Right. I think everyone recognized that Barkley was a great prospect. Some disagreed on whether his talent was top 5 worthy, but most agreed he was a great prospect.

It's his value (i.e, importance to a team) that I think is the core of the debate.

It's an argument of team building philosophies more than anything.

Barkley could end up one of the best RBs of all-time and still have been the wrong pick for the Giants to make at #2. Now some people will disagree with that, but I fully believe it and I think we will see it reflected in the Giants' performance over the course of Barkley's career.

He has a chance to be the first player since Marshall Faulk to rush for 1,000 and receive for 1,000..

As a rookie....

This post is a yikes from you

I don't think there was a person in here who didn't expect Barkley to be a 1,000 yard back.

The only arguments against were:

1. That he struggles consistently gaining positive yardage, which is true and hinders the offensive efficiency of an offense.

2. That you can find similar production (by committee or otherwise) without using the 1st or 4th overall picks on the position, which is also true.

And yet, they are the worst team in the league.

This is why you don't draft any RB #2 overall when you have no QB, no line, no defense, etc.

The chances of the Giants ever being a contender with Barkley are extremely slim.

It was an awful pick.

But, @thedarkness2332 is right. Barkley is exactly who many here thought he was. A home run hitting RB, a great WR out of the backfield, and a very good prospect. Just not worthy of a top 5 pick for a team that had so many holes at critical positions.
The Giants are setting themselves up to take the #1 QB in this draft. As the draft order stands right now, 1-8 won't be taking a QB. Whichever QB they take will have the luxury of a decent run game and the best WR in football. IMO this was always their tank plan.

This plan may have made sense had there been a well known QB prospect in the 2019 Draft. Or if they had a line or defense. We'll see how it works out..

Over 100 posts and I haven't seen one Laquon Treadwell admission. o_O

I'll be the first to own that one.

I honestly didn't think Trent Richardson would be complete and utter dogshit. I didn't think he was worth the third pick, but I thought he would be a good and serviceable NFL back, just not a superstar. He sucked major ass.

I thought Barkevious Mingo was going to be the next big thing. He sucks.

One thing I did get right was Mahomes. Wanted the Browns to get him so badly, but alas.

Dude literally everyone shit on him as a prospect and said Sony Michel and other backs were better as a prospect.

Eh...I feel like every year we hear how this draft is weak at QB, but there are always guys who end up being good.

Hell, just this year most of you wanted nothing to do with Mayfield first overall and he's looked like the best QB in the class by far.

Dude literally everyone shit on him as a prospect and said Sony Michel and other backs were better as a prospect.
1) Couldn’t have been “literally” everyone... dude.

2) We’re 8 games into their careers.

Sony Michel is going to be damn good, too.

You’re acting like this shit is fact and already done or something.

No one said Barkey is a shitty player. People argued that a RB isn’t worth a top 5 pick for various reasons—including longevity and value-above-replacement. As seen, Saquon has had a successful year and it hasn’t made the Giants successful.

Ultimately, questions about his skill set were legitimately raised when he was described as “the greatest player of his entire generation” because those are lofty claims.

You know, maybe, he just.... may not be? Or we could wait more than 8 games to determine that?

Relax.

I didn't. He was always my RB1. I just thought taking him second overall was a dumb move by the Giants.

And yet, there is a real conversation that Philip Lindsey is the best back from this class and not Barkely.

Which is what people were telling you. It's useless to take a running back this high.

What a weird victory lap to take.

Lot of alternate history and hyperbole, here.

This is not something we hear every year. In fact, last year was regarded as a good QB class. So was the Goff/Wentz draft.

Also, not every draft has a great QB. 2013 immediately comes to mind.

If this was the Giants' plan, it was a shitty one.

You’ve lost your mind.
