Not Ashamed to Admit We Were Wrong on...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Corey Coleman not being on that list is mind blowing. When was the article written?

April of this year, probably still to new to call him a bust earlier in the year, but hey, its official now.

I was wrong when I thought the use of "Buddy Boy" in this forum would die out before Hue or Haley were fired.

Unfortunately it may last as long as "Get Me Some." :(

Mingo is undoubtedly a bust and he is not a good player, but he is still in the NFL 6 years later. The #6 overall pick is tough for him but I feel like there has to be 25 players in the last 15 taken in the Top 15 or so that flamed out of the league right away- like Gilbert, Manziel, and soon Corey Coleman.

Edit- Just looking at Mingo's 2013 draft class

#2 Luke Joeckel- currently a free agent
#3 Dion Jordan- less career sacks than Mingo. Lots of injury issues
#7 Jonathan Cooper- has been on 5 different rosters, current on a practice squad
#9 Dee Milliner- hasn't played since 2016

Seeing as neither Haley nor Hue coined that phrase, it will live on and thats a good thing. Buddy boy.

Good luck finding me being wrong on a player.

Oi after a good game from any NFL prospect he's ever criticized.....

Montario Hardesty

Just kidding, I never thought he would be good, just wanted to say his name because it’s funny
I thought Montario had the potential to be good but he was hidden behind the greatest fumbler the world's ever seen.

I thought I hated the tank thread, but now that it is gone. I miss it. Wish he would bring it back and start it with “you listen to me fuckers we are rolling in with the tank”.

Saquan Barkley

@The Wizard of Moz @AZ_

Man I love watching that kid play. Extremely exciting player.

Glad we don’t have him but that he can’t run between the tackles stuff was way overblown.

This is an admit you're wrong thread.

You're in here trying to stir up shit.

And his last two games....

13 carries for 38 yards against the Redskins.
14 carries for 43 yards against the Falcons.

Did you "love watching him" run between the tackles these last two weeks?

He's what everyone thought he was. A big play guy who breaks one every now and then, gifted athlete, and good out of the backfield as a receiver.

He's a good play-maker.

He's not a 20 carry guy who gets 5 yards every clip and can sustain a drive that way. He has way too many no-gains that he offsets randomly with a 20 yard gain because he got outside.

Barkley leads the league in negative yardage and has been, as was predicted, inconsistent at running between the tackles.

Exciting player, big play ability. But, the problems we all knew he had still need work.

Of course, so does the Giants OL. If they're able to get better and develop some consistency it would certainly help Barkley, who isn't good enough yet to overcome that.

He has a chance to be the first player since Marshall Faulk to rush for 1,000 and receive for 1,000..

As a rookie....

This post is a yikes from you

And yet, they are the worst team in the league.

This is why you don't draft any RB #2 overall when you have no QB, no line, no defense, etc.

The chances of the Giants ever being a contender with Barkley are extremely slim.

It was an awful pick.

But, @thedarkness2332 is right. Barkley is exactly who many here thought he was. A home run hitting RB, a great WR out of the backfield, and a very good prospect. Just not worthy of a top 5 pick for a team that had so many holes at critical positions.

He's a damn good athlete and an explosive weapon. If you go back through my posts for the past year, you'll never find me saying otherwise.

Similar to how Reggie Bush went #2, Saquon is similar in skill set. The unique thing is he's actually big enough to sustain more carries than Bush ever was, which is why he was a prospect people were drooling over.

The question was if he's a bull-dozing, tough-yard-getting, bell cow of a running back. The most common comparison we've seen on these boards for this style of back is Zeke Elliott. He's the gold standard when we picture a "churn them out, hard-nosed, drive carrying" back--and he's complete as he will block his ass off as well.

The answer is, Saquon is not that despite being 230 pounds. And that's ok. He's something entirely different--and he's still a great football player. Again--he's similar in running style to how Reggie Bush liked to probe. He tries to bounce everything with his top gear and he spends a lot of time going laterally. He's not necessarily elite between the tackles, but he's elite in space. That's evidenced by how many negative plays he takes. Sure, it's hard to base much on the offensive line he has in New York, but the same things were happening at Penn State.

He's special in the sense that when he gets on the outside, and gets in space, he's a weapon. Was he a weapon worthy of going high in the draft? Of course he was.

The way you throw down 1000/1000 as the end of the argument without noting the tendencies of his running style really gives the impression that you don't actually watch the games.

It's like looking at stats and saying "Shaq was one hell of a shooter" because he has all those points. Shaq was a hell of a basketball player, but he didn't accomplish it by having an elite stroke.

All of these things aren't mutually exclusive. Saying that Barkley is different does not mean he isn't a good football player.

This seems like the wrong thread to hash this out all over again.

Thus, I am stopping right now.
