Rajon HOT WATER Rondo

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Even if Rondo is just a really expensive assistant coach at this point, whats not to like. He is a high IQ guy, seems to be clicking well (chemistry wise) with our young guys. We can use him in the same role Udonis Haslem has had with the Heat for the last 40 years.

Amazingly enough, Rondo looked really good against the Pacers tonight. I'm sure the stats will bear it out but Rondo was on the floor when the Cavs got their heads out of their asses and cut the 20 point lead to 10. Then he was out there again when we made our big run and took over the lead, and when we extended the lead.

15 points, 12 assists, 5 rebounds. I take back what I said about him being toast. I think that statement came after watching him get something like his 4th shot blocked or something, with some bonehead turnovers to go with it.

If he can be tonight's version he deserves some regular minutes no matter what.

Maybe Rondo heard talk of the Cavs still on the hunt for a better backup PG.

First game where he played within himself and was in tune with the guys. Hope more follow.

Rondo
Levert
Cedi
Love
Mobley could be super cool.

I'd like for them to look for Mobley more down low when they are assaulting teams from 3. He is open down there

Rondo's ability to drop passes into the paint around dudes is so good. Garland is great at the lob pass but I think he (and the rest of our guys reall) are not super great at passes into the post. How many times have we seen Allen or Mobley underthrow it? Rondo is amazing at that one tho and I hope Darius has been paying attention.

What Rondo provides from the hips up is fantastic. His legs are aging, he isn't quick anymore... We knew all that.

But his quick hands are still a marvel. How many deflections did you see against the Spurs? How many quick touch passes where he barely touches the ball, moving it along like a conveyor belt to the open man.

Obviously everyone from Draymond to JA praise his hoops IQ.

I love all those things he is providing, even if his slow legs get him in trouble.

I know there is more on the team than just Garland, but think about this. Garland got a half of a season from Rubio and a half season of Rondo teaching him the tricks of the trade. We have all heard from multiple sources both have been willing mentors for Garland and love working with him.

Teams pay the vet min to various coaches to help develop their young talent. I have seen a leap this year in Garland that we have all seen far beyond what we expected in year 1, no way Rubio AND Rondo havent helped that.

So who is left? CP3 for backup pg anyone? lol...probably wouldnt be as willing a mentor though, lol

Keep his minutes to 15/20 a game, and watch his b2b , ( I personally wouldn’t play him on B2B) I think we should get a very serviceable Rondo, especially with LeVert able to do some backup PG

Keeping Rondo to 15 mins a game would be a Goodwin for this team.
