My only concern is that they saturate the market and/or franchise fatigue.

Let's hope Filoni gets to control most of it.

for the series, if they stagger them it could work. Mandalorian is fantastic (haven't had a chance to watch season 2 yet). Having Star Wars series that air between seasons of that could work as long as they have the same quality.

And how many of those will just be one offs instead of trying to make them into more than they should be.

What they need to do is go the Marvel route and hand the projects off to talented directors who can imprint a bit of their own vision to each project while having someone competent to oversee the whole thing and make sure nothing breaks whatever canon the greater series is working toward. This has obviously worked really well with The Mandalorian and Jon Favreau, and the fact that they've brought in Taika Waititi, who has yet to make a bad movie, is a good sign going forward.

This should actually be a lot easier for Star Wars than Marvel since so many of the projects take place in different time periods or planets and don't cross over with each other, whereas Marvel's stuff is largely (but not entirely, obviously) confined to Earth and has been telling one long overall story. The fact that Marvel has been able to do what they've done with no real discernible drop in quality over like twenty films is insane.

It's been a hot minute since I dipped my toes into this(early on) amazing franchise. I'll never forget the first time I saw this movie, my dad had rented it on VHS from the local mom and pop rental store(anyone else remember when that was a thing?), in the mid 80's. A Shot in the Dark. God damn was Peter Sellers brilliant. 9/10 and by far the best Pink Panther movie.

Fuck Steve Martin for trying to replace him.

I love those Peter Sellers movies.

The report. Amazon prime. 7/10 a film about the fight to publish the report on enhanced interrogation techniques used on terrorists in the early 2000s. Not completely gripping but I learned a ton and felt disgusted so it's very 2020 to me

Another Peter seller clip. This one from a shot in the dark.

Pixar's Soul out today on Disney Plus.

Wonder Woman 1984 out today on HBO Max and theaters. Who's going to risk COVID to see a movie they can watch at home. The theater experience is better, but not enough better to risk covid.

Soul was delightful. It’s a very original and clever story with an excellent score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Those two can literally score anything they want at this point and never disappoint - and with music as the spine of this movie (like many Pixar tales), they deliver.

8/10

My 2 year old doesn't ever watch TV but the music and colors for this one looped him in.

Wonder Woman 1984 was decidedly not wonderful.

It was actually partly awful. Some parts were good but I expected more after a pretty solid film the first time around.
