Do Not Sell My Personal Information
From what I've read, Will Smith was more into having a traditional marriage but Jada was the one not satisfied with it. Will had to go to an intimacy therapist to be more comfortable with the open marriage.

There some other stuff like Will making a documentary for Jada for her 40th birthday that took him 3 years to make about her life and lineage, that Jada hated and blow up at the hotel after he showed it.

Also it seems Jada is the one who had push to make more of their relationship public. I didn't realize that talk they put out about their relationship 2 years ago was for Jada's own show.
Will is acting like a bitch. I feel for him but of course she's not going to respect any of that.

Right. I also think the reason he snapped was because this was suppose to be the moment of his career and all the openness about their relationship seem to out stage it.

I also read that Will Smith's mom didn't want to come to the Oscars and I wonder if all of this was the main reason why she didn't. Will has talked about how the values he was brought up with didn't align with Jada.

It's gotta be tough to live in Tupac's shadow.

Pathetic.

Will Smith, self- proclaimed protector of families and the Williams sisters and so many more, has now established a dangerous precedent. Now you get to slap the host if you don’t like the joke…even if you like the joke.

She was upset by the joke, which I can understand. Some people have a sense of humor about their health conditions and others don’t. She apparently doesn’t. Ok, that’s her right.

Chris Rock’s job is to entertain the tv audience and historically, the high ego low self awareness celebrities have always been fair game.

Will was originally laughing at the joke until apparently something happened offscreen with her that we can’t see. She probably looked upset or gave him a “aren’t you gonna do something about this” look. At which point he walked onstage and hit the guy doing his job. He fucking hit him. And he looked pleased with himself and plenty of other people gave him credit for it like it was a heroic thing to do.

So now we’re going to have a rash of guys smacking comedians when they or their family members can’t take a joke.

Guarantee it.

Will Smith says he’s on a mission from God and Denzel’s talking about the Devil trying to take him down blah blah blah. Guy smacked Chris Rock for a joke he laughed at.

My guess is that Will knows he generally looks like a cuck in the eyes of Americans, and his wife, and this was an opportunity to stand up and make himself look like a big man. I guess to some it does. To me he looks like a big arrogant pussy. I’d have been impressed if someone was trying to hit him or his wife and he laid them out. That’s a whole different story.

Why didn't she smack Rock?

How often has a guy been forced into a confrontation over his lady's virtue?

This is 2022.

If a woman has an issue with a joke, or some dude for whatever reason, she needs to fight him herself.

This overtook Ukraine news for Google's top news story this morning. Something wrong about that.

I mean, yeah, it's unusual for the Oscars, and I can see it headlining entertainment news, but still.

Anyway...I was cynically even more surprised that my husband sympathized more with Will Smith than Chris Rock, especially since said husband tends to distrust anyone even vaguely associated with Scientology (which, I think, is more Jada's thing than Will's, but given that he was defending her...).

I don't really sympathize with either, but if I had to explain my views, I think Rock's joke was in poor taste...but that Will can't just slap a guy in a huge public event, either. I've had many anger issues in my life, particularly in my late 20s and early 30s, but I never got to the point where I slapped anyone in public. Even the most socially discinclined usually recognize that as a big no-no, unless someone has crossed an even greater line than what Rock did last night. Many jokes can be in poor taste; they usually don't result in very public slappings.

Eh I think will looks terrible and it will prevent other people from acting similarly in the future.

Also doesn't help the cuck image if he's showing he's even more her bitch.

Idk that he originally processed the joke. Was just laughing to laugh. Didn't seem like a response out of obligation,he's was legit heated

It's 2022 but I don't know how many people believe that women are going to go around smacking men, or how many womrn will smack men (there's another thread going on right now talking about a guy who may or may not have been pretty gross to a bunch of women who didn't stand up for themselves initially in real time) or that men shouldn't defend them when it actually comes down to it

1) Smacking isn't acceptable in the vast majority of contexts. I've done it a few times in private, but regret every time I've done it. I make it a firm principle to try and avoid it now and use other calming measures instead.

2) I'm not against men defending their wives, but it should be done only if the defense is comparable to the injury given. A joke isn't the same as a public smacking. I wouldn't want my husband defending me if I'm being an ass. Right/wrong should take precedence over most other principles, so if I'm acting wrong, I shouldn't be defended -- by my husband or anyone else.

You can argue that slapping isn't as serious as a physical attack but more similar to public humiliation as the joke was

Will Smith is a giant narcissist, so any attention is good attention for him.

Stav is going to get the taste slapped out of his mouth at an upcoming show as the direct result of this.

Here's Jason Whitlock's take. He used to be a sports reporter.

They were both wrong.

You don't joke someone's medical condition.

My wife lost her hair because of a medical issue (chemotherapy for breast cancer). It took courage for her to leave the house without covering her head, it would have crushed her if even one person laughed at her because of it. Yet here Chris Rock made a joke about Will Smith's wife in front of millions of people.

I still would like to know what Chris Rock said after the joke, before he said "that was a nice one". I still can't make it out, but I think Will Smith got up after the second comment.

My comment was mostly satirical.

Probably not the best time for it.
