I think he said something like "I could.." or something like that. I took it as he was going to say something like "I could have done way worse or I could have talked about your marriage"They were both wrong.
You don't joke someone's medical condition.
My wife lost her hair because of a medical issue (chemotherapy for breast cancer). It took courage for her to leave the house without covering her head, it would have crushed her if even one person laughed at her because of it. Yet here Chris Rock made a joke about Will Smith's wife in front of millions of people.
I still would like to know what Chris Rock said after the joke, before he said "that was a nice one". I still can't make it out, but I think Will Smith got up after the second comment.
Will Smith was wrong. The joke wasn't funny. It's a 30yo joke. Jada has always had super short hair so I don't get why it's relevant in 2022. Is it a dig at her medical condition? Maybe. Is it OK to slap a comedian because you get your feelings hurt? No.
