Reghi is a womanizer…. well maybe not that extreme, but he is always around with these hot chicks. Maybe we can call him a playa. lol

I wish this board would let you completely delete posts.:chuckles:

All i'll say is don't let the phoney smile fool you, Reghi is an arrogant a-hole off the air. He dug his own grave.

I heard things about him ...but never witnessed anything. Mixed Bag mentioned how he can't stand him ...and I know he's not standing alone on that front. I know alot of people that just got really tired of his style ...I never let it bother me. I knew far more that liked him than disliked him.

What bothered me was having to endure a year of Mark Price needing to be spoonfed by Reghi to try and get one cogent remark out of him, and then have Mark Price add his take on what was being talked about by saying 'yep'.

Reghi was an old pro, but, he was in an organization that believes that the prototype organization is the Dteroit Pistons, and anything resembling what was there, or was there will be given preference.

Finally someone that knows the guy. Every time I had to spend time with him he came off as such. That is why he likes Art Model and Boozer so much, other arogant Aholes that cant do their job well and hate Cleveland fans.

Would be good if you could delete, I accidentally double posted the other day and all I could do was remove the content to save people from reading my crap twice.

The people that think this was purely a performanced based decision are being naive. The people who are calling or writing to complain are wasting their time...this was completely analyzed and justified. These are smart people making these decisions. Mixed, you are leading people in the right direction. Reghi picked sides on a lot of issues and was vocal about them. That wasn't in his job desription.
Unfortunately I was around him too. He was a know-it-all....a know-it-all that was often wrong.:chuckles:

Shocking news, then again it was something I never thought about. Reghi was a bit of a stiff but he definitely grew on me. Always had a funny choice of words, but said them with such passion that you couldn't help but get excited.

Bought out too? What an insult! Well, I'm sure he knows the business well enough not to be surprised. He always kept things strictly professional on-air, even when participating in his favorite activity- making Austin Carr uncomfortable :chuckles:

It is a bit odd he's getting replaced by yet another Detroit guy though.

In my opinion, the Cavs only have one good broadcaster and that's Joe Tait. Reghi is average at best, and his sometimes buddy, Austin Carr, is dreadful, again in my opinion. I thought Matt Guokas was the best TV announcer the Cavs have had, but evidently he was too outspoken.

Wow. I'm shocked to hear that. What happened? He was a great announcer and kept fans glued to their seats. "Flight number 23 Throw it down" I loved him.

This is pure crap. I absolutly loved the way Reghi announced the games. I could care less what he's like away from the tv, as long as he keeps announcing the way he has been then he's fine in my book. Reghi got us through some very tough years with the Cavs and I HATE that he's gone now that we are so close to the top. As for McLeod everything I have heard from Detroit fans is how bad he is, and how he is the second biggest homer in the league behind the Boston announcer, Tommy something. This is a bad bad move if true and you can believe I will be sending emails to explain my discontent if something is announced. I hope Gilbert realizes we are Cleveland not that crappy city up North.

Here's a link from today that has nothing confirmed:

:uhh: I hope he's not like Tommy Heinsohn, that guy makes me want to pull my ears off. Homer city.

He's goes full 'homer' mode. Busts on refs alot ...but, then Joe Tait used to be bad in that way ...he's toned down with age. I'm going to miss Reghi. Fans weren't privy to what he was like off the air ...they liked him on air, and that's what he was being paid to do.

I remembere when I was a kid I was a Pittsburgh Pirate fan ...they had a very popular radio man at KDKA that was a fixtire in the city, Bob Prince. He was fired because he made fun of a Westinghouse executives toupe' at a party. Westinghouse happened to own KDKA at the time ....

Sometimes execs get too wrapped up in personal baggage and lose sight of the fans and their wants and wishes ... As I said before ...the new guy has big shoes to fill. If he doesn't match up, he'll be burned at the stake like Ronnie Duncan, Mark Price, Roger Brown, and others in Cleveland sports media ...

I've worked in media and PR alongside my teaching and coaching for years ...I've seen all the good with all the bad ....on air personalities that happen to be egotistical asses off the air, aren't a rare commodity.

Hey Mixed, can you elaborate on how you spent time with Reghi?

Nothing all that interesting and not like we sat and had heart to hearts. Just a company I worked for had a connection to the Cavs and radio and TV stations and I ended up over the course of many years at some functions that Reghi attended or spoke at and had a couple short one on ones(barely more than how do you think so and so will be this year) and a couple times was at the same table with him in a group. Nothing significant just enough to get an impression of him which matched the one I got from him on the air.

I would have never guessed he had this many fans.

Loved Mark Price the player, but who in the world listened to him do a simulated game and decided to hire him as a color guy. Chones was better for pete sake. The color job always seems to be a reward to a former player regardless of ability.

Well I just sent an email announcing my displeasure if these rumors are true. If you feel the same way as I do I hope you do the same. I understand the decision may already have been made but it is good for the organization to know how it is the fans feel.

This decision is BS. Everything I have seen, read or heard lead me to believe that the overwhelming majority of Cavs fans like Reghi.

After watching some broadcasts of games done by announcers for other NBA teams I think Reghi is one of the best. He's knowledgeable and brings the proper amount of enthusiasm without going overboard.
Reghi has been broadcasting in Ohio and NE Ohio for a while now and has established long time ties which is valued in this area.
It didn't help him that the past 2 seasons he had to carry unproven rookie commentators with questionable ability.

If there were offcourt issues or this decision came from certain things Reghi said or stands he took than that makes this decision worse. Does Gilbert just want a bunch of yes men who won't say anything critical?

I'm getting sick and tired of Gilbert trying to turn Cleveland into Detroit South. You're not in Michigan anymore little Danny so leave it behind. First we had to suffer through the bush league obnoxious PA announcer and other idiots screaming into microphones on the sideline during games now we get a quality broadcaster replaced for no apparent reason with an outsider who seems to be here just because he's from the Pistons.

Too bad the Cavs haven't done more to immediately upgrade at PG and bring in a backup C than make a completely unneccessary move in replacing a local broadcaster.

Didnt I read Reghi is from Baltimore? I know he worked there for years with the help of his buddy Art Model.

And somehow I dont think changing announcers has much effect on whether we get a new pg

Calm down Mr. Reghi!
