Second half 22 GM Thread!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Come on Miller - this clown is custom built for you to beat!

I really think I could live with this one...

I like Morel and think he is perfect for Francona... Now I think Brennan is underrated and Morel is overrated, but acquiring Contreras and Morel wouldn't be a bad idea in my mind...

@Gson

Is there a team that needs Rosario that has a young bullpen arm who can help us now? I am thinking I would love a Lange type in a sense/the getting Chris Perez type of deal...

Terrible deal IMO. Chernoff wouldn’t do it either. The only thing that could change that is a Contreras extension and what are the chances of that?

We traded for Straw and the other guy I always trade for in OOTP is...

Morel...

He can play every position outside of catcher and pitcher and has a good enough bat to be an everyday guy. I literally have him play everyday in the game, one day a week at each position haha

Trade for 1B/LF Connor Joe (COL), bounced around the league via waivers, signed a minors deal with Colorado in 2020, now a legit bat, especially vs LHP (122 career wRc+), at his best the higher the leverage situations, 4.5 years of control left, but turns 30yo next month. He's a good trade chip for them, but also very popular and won't come cheap.

Offer?

Palacios, Tolentino, Gaddis, Herrin?

Miller, Pries, Mace, Misiaszek?

I’d do either of those offers, but I’d prefer Drury.

I want to keep Reyes. To be fair, I'm biased. Because I am a big fan. But he provides an element that we simply do not otherwise have--legitimate power. Yes, he is a flawed player. But the offense needs to be dynamic. Outside of Jose, the concept of having a lineup comprised almost entirely of slap hitters is just not appealing.

Reyes is young, controllable, and has been hitting very well since coming back from the DL. He also gives us a dimension that no one else does. Unless you are sold on Noel, there's no one else in the org who will be providing that dimension any time soon either.

You can make a lot of improvements with a Rosario, Tena, Brennan, and perhaps Plesac as your trade chips. No need to throw in one more guy who happens to do something that no else you have does.

Okay I am moving this convo elsewhere since this could get way off topic...

I'll be honest, from my perspective, we cannot keep both Naylor and Reyes if we wish to have a solid defense. Also 1B is one of the easiest positions to replace offensively and defensively in my mind. If we can move Reyes, we end up creating a much better roster when it comes to flexibility since Naylor can DH, but fill in at 1B/Corner OF when necessary.

I was also thinking if Reyes is gone, we can target a Walsh for the Angels as our 1B... so we can target a RH bat with some power that can play 1B/Corner OF. I also do not like Reyes with the fact he doesn't take any walks. EE always took walks and Reyes hasn't shown he is willing to. I don't think Reyes will be anything greater until he changes his approach...

If you move on from Amed and Franmil, it means we will be adding to the prospect overload....not alleviating it.

It also means that we are losing two RH bats for a lineup that can't hit left hand pitching well.

I am going to talk about my plans with these two...

First off if I am trading Reyes or Amed I have two targets in mind, either guys who are drafted and signed in 21 or bullpen arms that are near MLB ready...

@Gson

Someone mentioned C Blake Hunt from the Rays... do you think he could be our 3rd C in 23? He is supposed to be a 60 rated defensive catcher... not supposed to hit much...

Wait a minute.... So you want to go make a deal with Tampa Bay again???
I bet you were one of those kids that liked to run into traffic as he grew up, even after getting hit by moving car...

for clarification purposes... when it comes to making deals with clubs.. there are two to avoid:

Baltimore
Tampa..

Always seems like the shit-end of the stick is the teams that make deals with these two..

I would add a 3rd team when acquiring prospects (Atlanta)..
Just how many of their traded away prospects have panned out/ done well?

Haha, but this time I am not looking for an actual starter... I am looking for a defensive minded backup catcher which this guy profiles as lol

A) That is not a denial...
B) Just because you are not looking for a starter, it doesn't mean the chances improve when dealing with a noted snake oil/ troublesome trade partner.. When it comes to dealing with Tampa Bay the best move is to just say No and hang up the phone..

Maybe not, but the two teams have made a lot of trades with each other... lol
