Gotta think Tena's market value is pretty low now. He's commonly floated as a trade chip but who's buying?
Wondering if you could explain this one a bit? I feel like the only logic would be because teams could say we can't play them all?
Tena is the 8th youngest player in the Eastern League and of the ones that have been in the Eastern League from the jump he would be the 5th. The only thing that is really glaring right now is the walk to strikeout ratio which Mauricio and Martinez are pretty similar. All 5 are of the SS variety type like him. Prospects lists snub a lot of Cleveland guys Bimbo has talked about that in the organization doesn't usually like to leak own reports to publications. I'm not going to devote too much more time to this because I should be working so just quickly got by MLB pipeline (I know arguably one of the worst) but all of the other 4 are on MLB's top 100. Volpe 8, Martinez 36, Mauricio 52, Tovar 57
Ezequiel Tovar 8/1/01 Colorado .318 / .386 / .546 / .932 295 PA
Ronny Mauricio 4/4/01 NYMets .248 / .282. / .475 / .757 323 PA
Orelvis Martinez 11/19/01 Toronto .201 / .271 / .446 / .717 307 PA
Anthony Volpe 4/28/01 NYYankees .253 / .351 / .461 / .812 348 PA
Jose Tena 3/20/01 .272 / .298 / .423 / .721 298 PA
Below are the other players in the Eastern younger
C Gregory Leal 2/14/03 doesn’t really count, development list, not even playing 14 PA in FCL NYMets
OF Jhonkensy Noel 7/15/01
Pitcher Kyle Harrison 8/12/01 San Fran
OF Everson Perira 4/10/01 NYYankees
I'd like to end that Tena might not be your favorite SS prospect in this system but he still is a hell of a prospect and that really goes to show you the depth at MIF. If he can get his walks up he is a lock as a major leaguer or hell maybe he's the next OGonz MIF.
