That's understandable, he is getting up there in his career, and was going against guys in there prime.(Francis, Hamilton, etc.) He was actually good, J-Mac's flaws were there yes but I think anyone who understands the game of basketball knows good D when you see it. Snow is by no means Iverson Bowen or Artest we never went that far, but was and is our best defensive option at the point guard spot. However if we are playing a team and feel their PG is that much of a threat on the offensive end like Arenas Francis or Iverson, then why don't we let Hughes guard them and put Sarunas on the SG? Hughes can adequately guard PG's SG's and SF's. So don't be surprised if we really want to put the clamps on a PG to see Hughes checking him.

I don't want Daniels. He shot 29.7% from downtown last season.

LeBron will still get double or triple teaming, cause other teams dare to shoot Newble, Larry or Snow from downtown, they are all terrible shooters from long distance.
That's why acquiring Sarunas or Damon Stoudamire is a must. We can live without Daniels, he ain't a shooter, and a shooter is what we need most.

Some people are really frustrating me on this board. Its like they think we need 5 elite scorers on the floor on the court at all times. We need to mix defense and offense. Hughes and LeBron are both big risk takers on defense. We need somebody fundamentally sound on defense. Snow must play a role on this team, we need his leadership and hustle. You guys are too infactuated with his lack of power house scoring. Take off your blinkers!!!

LeBron is definitely a risk taker on defense. This might change, but for now we'll label it as a fact. Hughes, on the other hand, didn't get in the All-D first team for his steals alone. They played a huge role, but there are many other facets of his game that made him a solid defender and good choice for the team. LeBron, despite being #3 in steals, received 0 votes because of his excessive risk taking leading to poor defense.

We do not believe that we need 5 elite scorers on the floor in our starting lineup, at least I don't. But we need a threat from beyond the arc. If we start Snow, then the only person out there that can shoot the three effectively would be LeBron. Hughes can hit the 18 footer and might learn the 3, but we don't know that yet. Sarunas or Stoudamire would be the ones that could hit it with consistency. We need someone like that to kick it out to. Don't you remember one game VS Orlando? Where Snow missed 3 wide open shots from the perimeter? We don't need that again, we need a legitimate threat from the arc. Snow can come off the bench as a defensive stopper and he'll have plenty of offense there.

I think our defense will also be much better since Hughes is here. The thing Ira wouldn't be able to do was tire his man on the offensive end. He'd do well on the his defensive end only to let his man recoup on the other end because Ira can't really score, he just kinda stands there. Hughes, on the other hand, will frustrate on both ends, increasing our efficiency.

In picking up a shooter PG, it is imperative that we get a solid interior defender. Z is good, but a tad too slow to catch the shorter PG's. Someone like Haslem could work. But I'd be happy with someone that knows what "help defense" means.

Snow has definitely lost a step since Philly but he's still a very tough defender and he will his muscle effectively. The best thing about getting Hughes is that he's quick and long enough that he can guard PG's as well.

Also with Hughes we don't need the best OVERALL PG anymore, we need the best SHOOTING PG. Only 4 FA guys fit that picture: Sarunas, Stoudemire, Jones, and Jaric. I personally think Jaric is being very underrated on this board. Sarunas will be a very good player but he's defense from all accounts is atrocious and I fear it will take him a year or two to get used to the NBA game (remember Ginobili was 26 when he came over but he needed 2 years to reach his potential). Still he's a good shooter and definitely will help us. I'm not a big fan of Damon Jones who gets exposed physically

According to several league sources, the Cavs are interested in several point guards such as Lithuanian point guard Sarunas Jasikevicius, Tyronn Lue, Damon Jones and Damon Stoudamire. Which point guard the Cavs acquire will depend on how much money is left once a deal with Ilgauskas is made. The Cavs currently have about $16 to $18 million left after their deal with Hughes.

First time Tyronn Lue's name has been mentioned in an article. He isn't a terrible option if we strike out on the other crew which would also include Earl Watson.

I don't like Lue he is too erratic for my taste, Sarunas Daniels Watson Stoudemire that's my choice order..

If the Cavs do miss out on the top FA PG's and need to go cheaper than Lue is a decent short term option. He does have good quickness, has a decent jumper and does have solid experience. He's not perfect or a long term solution but if other options fall through, he might be the best left out there.
