Spring Training Games thread!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is anyone listening to the game? I guess Hedges just left the game in the 3rd inning for some reason...

That was my question.

If Hedges is hurt, the refusal of the FO to seriously address catcher has just bit us in the backside.

If Hedges is hurt...

Take a Chance Sisco*on me..... ?

Edit.. Considering the precarious nature of catcher on the ML team, let's hope they are trying to keep him out of harms way.

Well from what I could tell, is Hedges got hit by a foul ball (though they didn't say where) and he was down for a minute, but finished the inning as a catcher, so hopefully it's just to get ice on the bruise so he's 100% for the season?

Otherwise in house, Mike Rivera is the next man up... Zimmer would have to be cut to add him (so it may not be so bad in a sense).

Speaking of Zimmer, he just added to his K total...now 16 and counting.

I can't believe he's headed back to Cleveland with this team. I mean what's the point?

Logan S Allen.. has put a couple of what appear to be cutters that didn't cut (mistakes) in the middle of the plate.. the Rox teed off... The Rox were efficient in moving guys over and in to drop a three run marker on the Guards in the bottom of the first inning.. Allen just isn't fooling anyone..

Logan S Allen.. leaves after giving up four runs in 1.2 IP.. at least one of the runs are tainted.. Kelly, an A baller comes in.. walks the first man he sees then retired the side without any further damage.

In the top half of the inning.. Wil Benson CRUSHED one to the top of the wall in right center.. he was hustling out of the box and made it all around the bases by the time the Rox were able to corral the ball and throw it home.. Inside the park homer.. a rare and wonderful thing.. indeed..

Mike Rivera slugs a homer to LF.. getting a conventional Homer.. sort of boring..

Oscar Mercado.. does the same thing.. conventional homer.. less boring..

ho hum.. 4-3 now..

In other game, Civale seemed like he was struggling with command early (was 11-20 at one point, ended 30-52) but found a way out of most trouble. Lavastida with two good hard hit fly balls (one for the first hit over a guy's head who misplayed it a bit for his first hit and 2nd Marte had a good running catch). Clase just had 1-2-3 inning. Tied 1-1 but Arizona is quickly subbing guys.

Bottom of the third inning.. 2 outs. Garza on the hill 2 outs, runners at 1st and second... 1-2 count on the Rockies hitter.. Garza spikes a split or spike curve into the dirt.. Mike Rivera moves to his left, squares and closes both shoulders (creating a letter C), lowers his back side.. puts his arms to his side and towards the pitcher or in front of his sides and takes a ball off his chest protector... A CLINIC on how to block a ball in the dirt.. If Lavastida watches and emulates that action.. & does it that way EVERY TIME (he doesn't... especially later in the game).. then he will have learned what it takes to be "more" ready to be a ML catcher..

Best example I've seen by the Guardians catchers this spring training.. SSS...

O-Gonz with a spirited at bat in the bottom of the fifth inning.. got the count to 0-2, then fouled off four really tough pitches (looked like hard sliders w/ very late break) from Kinley before topping one to the left side of the infield for the last out of the inning....

What's the over/under OGonz plays a ML game or several for us this year??? More than 60%?
