As of this moment, nobody is better suited for the UIF role than Arias. We simply don't have anyone else that can suitably play all 4 IF positions. Although with Bell onboard now we don't need an extra 1B.

Though he does have a point about Fry...

@Gson what is your take on his catching ability if you got to see it...

We have an open roster spot. So I could see a guy like Fry getting a roster spot because of what he plays.

Last time I asked Bimbo about the possibility of Fry catching he told me that idea had pretty much been scrapped if I recall correctly.

Fry could be that RH bat off the bench though and he can play 3B and 1B.

...what catching ability???? there are six flawed catchers in this system.. very little ML depth.. This is situation is the most dire on the squad..

I'm asking about Fry in general as a catcher, no one else...

Considering they have brought 3 catchers in on MiLB contracts this off-season...I think that sort of tells you how they feel about Fry catching... If he had skills behind the dish, we'd know.

Probably the best emergency C we have and that's about it.

I would have no problem leading off Rosario and batting Kwan 2nd.

It CANNOT hurt.

That means very little... They will always have extra catchers especially since their upper minors is kind of bare of catchers...

Well if he's going to be in the lineup might as well take advantage of his speed when he does get on base. We'd still have Kwan in front of the boppers so it makes sense.

Let the magician bat with ducks on the pond.

Sorry, have been busy. I’ll have to get my priorities straight:)

I’m definitely not a scout, but pitch recognition is an issue. I don’t believe I’ve seen hitter over an extended period of time with more disparity between his swing plane and pitches as often. He’s the opposite of the eye/hand wizards.
I'm saying this for the purpose of drawing a parallel not to be nitpiicky - I think Franmil had him beat. Same swing every time, seemed like he was just guessing at pitches and if not looking horribly fooled.

Hopefully he can do better than Franmil!

As long as Tito doesn't wedge it in, I think we'll be fine. The 2 hole should be treated delicately, with care and compassion. We don't wanna break the chemistry by just slipping it in. That being said, I have complete trust in Tito to do it right.

I’d be in favor of Rosario lead off with kwan 2nd.

Ahmed’s DP issues “might” be minimized (hitting after straw) and this could take advantage of Kwan‘s strengths.

If I had to guess today...

v. RHP

1. Kwan - LF
2. Rosario - SS
3. Ramirez - 3B
4. Naylor - DH
5. Bell - 1B
6. Gimenez - 2B
7. Gonzalez - RF
8. Zunino - C
9. Straw - CF

Not what I would do, but this is what I expect to see.
