The 2020 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Thank you. Jupand was who I was thinking of that had advanced details on the Red/Padres/Indians deal. Not Reno

I mixed up Jupand and Reno as well, I knew one called the Puig deal.

That troll (R) has gone so far as to accuse Jupand (and others) of being Trevor Bauer using an alias.. or having unhealthy thoughts/ desires related to Bauer.

Its one thing to offer a different opinion or perspective but the troll is constantly stirring items up & taking contrary stances. A handful of regular posters (myself included) tried to get moderators to intervene. Instead our items got deleted and the troll's items remained.

It really fried me when I discovered the troll "quoting" the posts of others but it was actually changing what the original person had posted and then responding to that.

& the continued references of "Heads need to roll".... If he personally demonstrated with his head rolling first, it might be the start of something...

Reno was banned from here years ago. As in a decade.

While he's obviously pushing BS, the Indians and Dodgers DO make a ton of sense as trade partners.

i just don’t see the Indians really making a major trade next season. Kluber’s value is way down, so trading him really almost makes no sense now. I feel we need to ride out Lindor’s contract since we are returning a 93 win team and I think in 2020 we will be better overall as a roster and I don’t think the Twins can repeat that type of season unless they go out and get some starting pitching. We may target a young controllable Setup/Future closer in a trade, but otherwise Unless we get a deal we cannot refuse I don’t see any big name leaving Cleveland

Unless the Dodgers give up Lux, May and a top 10 prospect, I don't see it.
The Tribe would have to be blown away to trade Frankie, and the Dodgers aren't known to part with prime assets.

Who do you guys see us targeting in free agency? They were projecting around 15 mil to be able to take on via trade/free agency next season after everyone’s raises. Any targets worth even trying to sign anything think?

I think the team will look to trades & internal candidates to fill the openings. The available money would allow for a contract (of some note) to be absorbed. The Tribe could also be looking to contract extensions to control some future costs & that could eat up some "projected available funds" for the 2020 season.

IMHO how the 40 man roster looks on the Nov 20 deadline (for R5 protection) will give everyone a clue on which way the FO will move trade wise...

No explanation included as to why he was pulled, but his slash line there wasn’t too robust. Nice to see some power flashed though.

Maybe he just needed a mental break in a sense? He seems to be going through a slump, so in theory maybe giving him a break will keep him away from bad habits and just get him rest in the off season. Also I am wondering how many lefties he faced since he still hasn't had good numbers against them in the minors.

Dunno if it's out there but he had a hand injury that required surgery.

Had been dealing with it for most of the 2nd half....

ICYMI - news broke on twitter (Justin Lada & Jeff Ellis among others) that Nolan Jones has had surgery on his right thumb. It explains why he left the Arizona Fall League early & why he didn't play in the All Star Showcase before he departed.
Surgery was termed minor and Nolan is expected to fully recover and be ready for the start of spring training.

I'm noting it here as it likely impacts any trade possibilities of Jones this off-season...

Maybe he needed a mental break from the struggle of playing through the injury? :detective:

I think that's the point, though, that the Dodgers have the resources to get this done in theory.

The problem, imo, is that Friedman is too analytical for his own good and looks only at potential WAR and not that Frankie is a generational player; the kind of bird in hand worth 2 in the shrubbery so to speak. You happily trade a couple guys with star potential for a guy who already is a superstar, team leader, master of all trades on a path to the Hall. Maybe Friedman surprises me, looks past the raw #s and realizes what Frankie could do for a roster that talented but i have my doubts. I still see the Yanks having the balls and ammo to make a deal work; the Tribe has shown with the Cliff Lee-Choo-Bauer deals that they love 4 quarters for a dollar trades- say, Gregorius, Urshela, Florial and a couple of pitching prospects. The FO knows they screwed up on not dealing either Bauer or Kluber when their value was highest, i don't think they make the same mistake.
