The 2020 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
For a little background:
  • The award is given to the player who best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement, and individual's contribution to his team
  • Each team nominates 1 player every year
  • This was the 5th straight year that Carlos was the Indians' nominee. This speaks volumes to the type of guy he is on and off the field
Huge honor and congrats to Carlos

Dodgers are pursuing Lindor.

RIP Cleveland sports

Not trading Lindor for Seager as the main piece. He'd probably just walk too.

Seager makes no sense in a Lindor trade. They become UFA at the same time.

While that’s the case, I have to believe they would only trade Lindor if it helped them both short term and long term. Frankie is certainly the superior player, although the difference between he and Seager last season in fWAR is 1.1. If they can add prospects like Ruiz and Downs to the deal and a controllable big league player like Verdugo, then I think they have to seriously consider it. I just don’t see Lux or May being in play, so they would have to be creative to still pull off a deal with the Dodgers.

If they aren't in play, then neither is Frankie. We don't have to make a deal.

Ultimately, I agree with you. I just wonder if they actually would consider other scenarios (not including guys like Bellinger and Buehler, obviously.)

If you’re not getting Lux, then it makes absolutely no sense to deal Lindor.

Ruiz and Downs are marginally above average prospects.

I agree. And not that Roberto Perez is a superstar, but I'm not sure why we'd target a catcher when we have a pretty good one locked up through 2022 for a pretty reasonable salary.

Gavin Lux is a future All Star.

Any deal begins with him as the centerpiece. He immediately fills the void of Lindor if they so choose to deal him.

Which is why the Dodgers won’t trade Lux, especially since they are one of the few teams that can just sign Lindor outright in two years.
