The 2020 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Indians have a price for Lindor and in the mindset both of you guys have, there isn’t a good trading partner because teams either lack the trade assets or the need for him. Lindor at the same time every single team in the league would take, but to me to get Lindor you would need an MLB established bat with some control, then likely they would want a couple top 100 prospects (well in Cleveland scoutings mind not MLB.com) plus a couple more prospects which between the 4 prospects in that scenario 2 have to be at least at AAA and could contribute soon to the big league club. I just don’t see any team offering that type of deal at the end of the day.

If the Indians decide to seriously consider moving on from Lindor, I would hope they look for the best combination of talent and value period, regardless of position. Stack the farm system with talent. As long as they have scouted those prospects well and they are good, premium prospects are always valuable in other moves down the line.

The Yankees declined Edwin’s option making him a free agent. If the Tribe is serious about playing Reyes in RF regularly, then bringing Edwin back on a cheap one year deal if his market craters would be something to really consider.

I understand the viewpoint but disagree. Bringing in a pure DH (like Edwin) means problems if Reyes is less than acceptable in the OF & it ties up the DH spot. A big part of the reason to get time for Reyes in the OF is to open up the DH spot to other players so a day off from play in the field allows the bat to remain in the lineup (as the DH)..

Personally I don’t think it would hurt us to get EE in the end. Reyes is still young and if he works on toning up and the Jacobs field isn’t nearly as bad to field in as San Diego is to be honest. I feel having his bat in the lineup would take pressure off of the other guys. We have about 15 mil area to play with money wise between the off season and trade deadline, so if we can get him for cheap I think it’s a wise decision.

Exclusive: Anthony Rendon has agreed to terms with the Indians. Cleveland fan base can’t be bothered to care, as they’re too deep in the trenches of cyber warfare launched against Tony Grossi.

Kind of a serious question, but with all the long balls and strikeouts this year, how much was OF defense (specifically RF) devalued?

I would take Edwin back on the cheap. If I remember correctly he did wonders for Frankie and Jose in terms of development. Maybe he could help Reyes out as well? Also would extend that lineup more.

How cheap is cheap for EE?

Won't he sign for at least $10mil?

His production, albeit in limited games, this year was closer to his last year as a Blue Jay than his time as an Indian.

Urban - thanks for your projections.
I think you over spent for the Tribe. Most projections I have seen suggest the Tribe has @$14M available to spend & maintain last season's spending.

I have to think part of that money will be held in reserve for acquiring a piece at the trade deadline. I also believe some of that money will be directed toward a contract extension for Clevinger (to lock in costs and hopefully get another year of control).

This will be an interesting off-season for following the Tribe. I suspect there will be a couple minor deals that look much larger in hindsight (a la Gomes last off season). The 1st insights we will get as fans will be once the 40 man roster is locked in later in Nov (ahead of the winter meetings & R5 draft)..

He almost matched his 2017 performance as an Indian, but you're correct that it was slightly better than his 2018.

I would guess he could get 2 years $30 mill
