The 2021 Cleveland Baseball Organization

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Now that Boston has stomped on our last flicker of contention, a six man rotation makes a lot of sense.

It cuts down on IP, esp for TMac.

It helps cover us for all the double headers coming up.

With Allen out of options, it allows the FO to get more of a handle on both him and Morgan...esp Allen.

If by the end of the season, the FO views Allen as a legitimate rotation piece and Morgan as a legitimate sixth starter, they could decide to trade excess pitching for a bat.

We also have three double-headers in the space of 10 days. They almost have no choice but to go with six starters. When Bieber gets back it could be seven.

Other teams will be green with envy when they see us going with a rotation of Bieber, Civale, Plesac, Quantrill, McKenzie, Morgan, and Allen. The phones in the front office will be ringing off the hook with calls from teams that need starting pitching.

Thats the hope...lol.

They should be prepared to pay thru the nose, starting with one arm or leg.

Still no sight of Karinchak in Columbus. Something off-the-field related might be going on with him that isn’t being reported.

Or maybe they are letting his body get rest before they pitch him again....

Told you guys in here a few times. Karinchak isn’t fully healthy and it’s caused a lot of mechanical issues.

He needs a hard reset after the sunscreen/sweat/rosin ban. He’s just throwing bullpens and working on things that the development staff targeted for him. Pitching in games in Columbus isn’t going to help him right now.

Then why did they send him down there? Also, he wasn’t just using sunscreen and rosin. He clearly had a sticky substance in his glove.

So the development staff can get their hands on him for an extended period of time.

He’s throwing bullpens working with them in a controlled, stress free environment. He’s going to be in games eventually, just not at the start.

This is a giant non-issue. There is no off field problem. He’s working hard to get himself right before getting into actual games again, and doing what the developmental staff wants him to do.

I just don’t see how a guy going from being a top-five reliever in the sport to absolute dogshit within a couple months and then being demoted to Columbus but not pitching there for a week instead of being placed on the IL at any point can be considered a “giant non-issue.”

I’m not saying it isn’t. He’s a huge part of their future, they need him right. The health issue is behind him, the mechanics issue is not.

All I am giving you is what he is doing, and why he isn’t in games yet. I’m not getting into whether it’s an issue or not (it obviously is).

He’s in Columbus doing what the organization is asking him to do and working on what they want him to work on. He’s not throwing a fit and refusing to pitch or going off the deep end.

Don’t confuse his personal, private life stupidity with his professional mental capacity. Few guys as well liked by everyone in the organization as Karinchak and few guys who work as hard as he does.

I appreciate the insight and completely agree that he seems extremely dedicated to his craft. I’m also concerned though that we might never see him pitch anywhere near the level he was at pre-June.

I highly doubt that Karinchak is gonna return to his early season form, when he may have been the best freaking reliever in baseball. I dont expect anybody to consistently be the best reliever in baseball over the long term.

But I have little doubt that he is gonna be pretty darn good.

I think he will, knowing how he was prior to being exposed to the stuff (he hasn’t used his entire time as a pro).

Needs a mechanics reboot and I think he’ll be fine, but that’ll be a lot of work.
