Would it take much to acquire a banjo hitting CF that can play an above average CF?

Luv ya sporstcoach, but you're out of your anime-loving mind with this one.

As has been pointed out, Napoli was still a good player that season, and so could lead by example. He earned his spot through his play, not because of his Obi-Wan like ability to guide young people.

Pujols would be a wild shot in the dark -- a vague hope that his terrible on-field play would be outweighed by a fantastic presence in the locker room. I question the message it would send to the rest of the roster to take up a spot with a guy whose on-field performance is that bad. And there's always the chance it could backfire and have the opposite effect. I mean, if his leadership overrode his terrible play, why didn't the 13-17 Angels keep him? Suppose we sign him, he expects to get on-field time, but we find out he sucks even worse than our remaining option and so he rides the pine. How will he respond to that? How did he respond to that with the Angels? How will the team respond if he starts getting surly about it? Just way to much potential negative for the potential of an intangible benefit.

I think leaders should emerge organically on a team. Trying to manufacture one by importing an outsider who most of the players don't know personally seems like a huge stretch.

First off, Ace of Diamond and Major are legit baseball animes, so it's better to respect them and watch them lol

Napoli could still play, but Giambi really couldn't. @Out of the Rafters at the Q I am actually not being nostalgic about them, just personally I feel like we are one veteran away, like @CATS44 said, someone like a Matt Williams to help gel this team together and get over the hump. @Kevalier you also have to factor in the FO said to not play him to Maddon. Now that being stated, we wouldn't sign a guy like Pujols in a Giambi role unless he was 100% on board with it. Hard to expect him to be so I don't expect him to actually sign here but that's about the only type of offers he will get around the league.

I am labeled as an empath and honestly that means I naturally subconsciously read people emotions and have a tendency to take on the emotions of people around me. I have been made fun of it a lot in person cause it causes some quirks in my personality, but when I trust it, I am almost never wrong.

I didn't like the clubhouse last season and thought it was a mess before they even publicize it and I did say something about it as well, but got criticized for it. Clubhouse is better this year, but I feel we need someone to be that final ingredient. In a metaphor, you are trying to recreate your grandma's recipe, and it tastes good but it's not perfect. For that 16 team a guy like Napoli was that final secret ingredient. So from my stand point, we are close, but we are missing that final ingredient this season. I feel the secret ingredient is a veteran who will mix into the clubhouse and help the young guys improve as well. This is just how I feel, and if we get the right veteran into the mix, I just feel we could legitimately make a deep playoff run...

At the end of the day, I feel like we need a veterans SP and a veteran bat. I would ideally want one to be a leader to help gel this team together.

I will be ridiculed for my comments but I am going to trust them since they have proven right more than wrong...

We have three of them in the minor leagues.. no added cost..

We just don't know when players will be available honestly and who will be. I just cannot think of many CFs going to be available. A bunch of corner guys though of course should be lol

I wonder if our board empath can tell us how "I've got special powers, so I don't care what anyone else says--I think I'm right" makes other people feel :chuckle:

Don't think we see Berto until late-June/early July
It’s always interesting when something like this happens. Guy is injured but they say he can play through it, but then it turns out he needs to miss a bunch of time. Did he re-injure it or was the initial diagnosis incorrect? Or did they originally think he could play through it and push the surgery to the off-season?

Tito’s quote was that they don’t have all the info yet, but it will be months, not weeks, until he is back. Good thing we have a .750 hitter to replace him!

it's not a super power I can tell you that much haha if anything it's more of a pain in the ass.

Also I did state that the Indians have a chance to get to the World Series with the right move... So isn't that a good thing? Haha
