Do you think Garland and Mitchell are a fit next to each other?
I certainly think they can be with the right coach. Both are 3 level scorers who can shoot from the logo if left open.

Garland can’t be the only perimeter threat. We saw that last season. We saw the same with Mitchell in Utah. A legitimate offensive coach would figure out how to run plays to get them quality shots beyond high pick and rolls.

To be fair, I predicted Allen would collapse early on and said he should be moved. I was anti-Mitchell trade immediately. I knew the team lacked shooting length and toughness to make a big showing in the playoffs. I saw Garland wilting against high pressure playoff type defenses the last seasons.

Sometimes it’s just obvious. Now the team is low on assets unless it wants to move off one of the golden children.

It’s really not an enviable position at all.
Like I said, you have it all figured out. Must need a break from being tired about being right all the time. Take a vacation!

Defensively it's a big problem. Both of those guys want to be paired with a better defender at the other guard spot.

Just shows you how idiotic most GMs are. We have posters on here with better track records of evaluating college talent.

Okoro over Halliburton. Great decision there!

Harteinstein could have been where RoLo is, for a cool $2M. Maybe a little more.
Now look at this BS.

Boot Windler. Replace with Keita Bates-Diop.
Find or elevate a backup C who is playable in the NBA. Even if it is DeMarcus Cousins.
Cedi, Wade, Ricky contracts need to be deadline bait.
Keep LeVert, unless you are faced with an overpay.
Do something with those 2nd rounders.

I really WISH they could replace JB. Players like Okoro would be so much better. Ty Lue may be available, but rumor is his impending exit came with a lot of BS. Like Inverse JBB shit. Kenny Atkinson is my dream.

Rest of the guys gotta get better.

No assets all you can do is trade Allen but his trade value took a sizeable hit this series. I would look to trade Mitchell and see if you could get a great package back.

I'm a big believer in Garland. I think he can be Steve Nash 2.0. I think the team should have been built around him and having the ball in his hands rather than around Mitchell.

Your right but Altman will never admit his mistake trading for Mitchell. He'll go to his grave with that one. :shakehead:

Fuses are understandably going to be short tonight. Please take it easy on each other.

I told you so’s and being the smartest guy in the room probably won’t make you feel any better about the loss, so let’s try to keep those to a minimum?

Untouchables: Mitchell, Garland, Mobley

Give me something useful on the wing: Allen

The gun is to our heads: Caris' new contract seems like a must

Everyone else, take it away. Bonus points if JBB is the bow on that toilet flush.

Offseason moves:
  • We need to buy a draft pick and find either a reserve big or a wing
  • Then use any free agent money we can scratch out to get the other position we couldn't find in the draft
  • Pick off a vet bench scorer, even if they can't do anything else
  • Some combination of these things needs to include shooting and toughness
I think Mobley hitting that next level, combined with 2 bodies (wing, reserve big), plus a bench scorer could move the needle. We should see incremental improvements from Garland as well.

Inevitably, we'll go as far as Mobley takes us. I think he's the one guy we have who could turn in to a player with no real weaknesses.....if he does, I think we have the pieces to be a contender......if he doesn't, it feels a lot like a second round ceiling.

Will be an interesting off-season.

i told you so and I am the smartest guy in the room.

My attention will be on what Altman does.
At times while he has taken action, it hasn't always been the correct path to go.
He's let a number of players go when they would have been better options on the bench.
Those decisions make me wonder what he's thinking.
Does he really know how to construct a team?
