Regardless of my opinion on the Mitchell trade, it seems to me that even though we finished with a better record this year, there was no point in this season that we looked better than in our peak in the previous season. Yeah, the team collapsed by the end of that season, but we looked good as fuck for a while.

Too bad Rubio and Wade are shells of their former selves.

y'all know if they trade Allen right now, they'll come back with absolute mid. Anything that isn't giving draft capital back is bullshit. Best bet is to get OKC on the phone. Add a serious 3rd big to slot in between the 2 in the interim.

I'd like RoCo but he's turning 33 this season. And Evan Mobley is not a center.

Evan Mobley most certainly is a center. This team will reach its hypothetical apex with Evan Mobley (with some added girth) playing center and a 4 who can leave the paint.

For this year yeah, he ultimately disappointed.

I don’t think either of the following two things can be said with certainty though.:

1. That the Cavs would’ve been better(this year or long term) keeping the main aspects of the deal and using a pick of two for a complementary player

2. That the package the Cavs traded, at the time they traded it, could have resulted in a better player

But Donovan definitely underperformed expectations in this years playoffs based on his previous playoff history and his regular season play with the Cavs

It was a bad trade, but it'd be a mistake to try to make up for it, or try to ship Mitchell out (we'd get less value - we are never getting close to what we got for him in return).

Even if Mitchell was himself, he was not worth an all-star (we didn't know it at the time), rotation players, a promising young player, and three first round picks.

I don't want to kill Koby for it, because it still made some sense. It was a ballsy trade. I still think he's a good GM, and we do need t0 see what he can, to continue building this team. Even if it wasn't a great trade in the end, doesn't mean all hope is lost. At a value standpoint though, it was too much.

I wouldn't say we are screwed going forward though. I think even if the Cavs could go back, they wouldn't do this trade, of course they'll never admit it.

What immediate impact wing is available given the assets/cap space available?

I think everyone will struggle to give an answer here but I also didn't think someone like Saddiq Bey would have been traded for a half eaten apple. We honestly just need someone who can reliably log minutes and not be a disaster. If the front office can merely find someone to tread water there and not be a large negative would, to me, be an immediate impact.

3rd season is massive. Make or break for Mobley. If he can't take the leap strength and shooting wise, not sure he'll be THE GUY.

Garland and Mobley are both you and inexperienced, they have an excuse for being disappointing. Mitchell has none. And he was the worst of the 3.

I don't believe in moving guys just from a disappointing playoff series. It has to make sense for our team. I'm not trading Mitchell, no way. I was for moving Allen before this awful performance.

Him and Mobley can't be a thing going forward, and we need wing help. I just hope he didn't destroy his value.

I think we have to re-sign Levert. Not crazy about him, but he is one of the only decent bench players we have. SMH, should have never started him. I can't even think of JB right now, his decisions piss me off that much.

Thank you Okoro, for making him look like such an asshole.

It depends on what kinds of trades are out there for Mitchell.

Mavs are desperate for a center with a pulse and they have the 10th pick. Maybe we could swing a 3 team deal and reroute the pick if they don't move up in the lotto.

The 10th pick in this draft isn’t worth trading Allen for.

We don’t really have time to subtract Allen and then replace him with someone else who is two to three years away.

Mitchell, Garland and Mobley are all on a win now timeline. If Allen is being moved, it needs to be for someone who is going to immediately impact elsewhere (wing).

Luke is fun to think about but if you think in year one in the NBA he’s going to be any better than Cedi or Okoro, let alone better, you’re crazy.

Now that said, bring him over and let the development and familiarity with the NBA start but please don’t trick yourself into thinking he’s a difference maker in the regularly season and especially in the playoffs next year.

Defensively it's a big problem. Both of those guys want to be paired with a better defender at the other guard spot.
I think Garland’s defensive issues are overblown if I’m being honest. Mitchell can generally be hidden on weaker players. I’m not very concerned with that pairing defensively because the results haven’t born out that there is a problem there, let alone a big one.

That's why I said we'd reroute the pick in a 3 team deal. Obviously easier said than done, but I don't think we're going to get a talented playoff ready wing in exchange for a rim running center in a straight up deal. The 10th pick is probably the better than what we could realistically hope to get back. We got Allen for a late 1st to begin with.
