Do you think Garland and Mitchell are a fit next to each other?
I think we can’t answer that until we sort the coaching situation and then understand the offensive philosophy and testimony of the guy brought in.

I think we should be open to taking big shots to build a better roster but I wouldn’t rush to break up DG/Mitchell either.

Whereas I’m open to moving Allen immediately. Just too many reasons that he and Mobley won’t work playing 32 minute per game next to each other. Or even 20 minutes per game on the court at the same time.

Mitchell and Garland are both poor defensively, which makes moving Allen tough. The Cavs were terrible this season when Allen didn't play. He helps cover up for the guards poor defense.

Garland and Mitchell have too much overlap to be a maximized pairing. They’ll be split up. It’s a matter of who refuses to commit/demands a trade first.

Mitchell was a bad trade.
For this year yeah, he ultimately disappointed.

I don’t think either of the following two things can be said with certainty though.:

1. That the Cavs would’ve been better(this year or long term) keeping the main aspects of the deal and using a pick of two for a complementary player

2. That the package the Cavs traded, at the time they traded it, could have resulted in a better player

But Donovan definitely underperformed expectations in this years playoffs based on his previous playoff history and his regular season play with the Cavs

I think you look to trade Allen for best possible package. What teams realistically could use an Allen?

I told you so’s and being the smartest guy in the room probably won’t make you feel any better about the loss, so let’s try to keep those to a minimum?

I think the hardest aspect of all of this is you don't make moves in a vacuum.......but people want to evaluate decisions like that is the case.

I don't really fault any of the moves we have made, even with the hindsight of what just happened to end the year. The thing most people ignore is the alternative in these discussions. We wouldn't be any better off if we had done any of the things most, if not all, are suggesting.

The thing that makes roster building difficult, especially in a non premium market, is that kind of nothing can go wrong. Up until Allen turning in to a pumpkin and Garland / Mitchell both simultaneously struggling, things looked pretty good.

The tough work starts now, when a GM needs to decide if what we saw was a small valley in a sea of peaks or if it was the first real sign that in order to level up, they're going to have to make a move that is probably going to be pretty unpopular in the locker-room (trading Allen).

As much as I like to evaluate talent, the really, really tough job is trying to skillfully navigate the situation we are now in......and figure out how you can reshuffle the roster without imploding the locker-room.

The worst thing we could do is overreact and trade Mitchell, Garland, and obviously Mobley. It'd be an overreaction. Yes, they were all disappointing.

You got to see how this team looks under a new coach. Of course, the other guys, you can look to move. Outside Okoro, get him the fuck away from JB, and his game will take off.

Next years team will not be this years team. Their is a combination of coach and players that can give the Cavs a better two way profile with different wing and front court construction

Just my two cents.

I don’t believe Mitchell is a bad trade. Throughout this whole series we weren’t putting him in good spots to succeed or get him easy opportunities. We always slowed the pace, brought the ball slowly, then half of the time the players sat at the corners making the defense easier to defend.

As a result Mitchell has to work harder to get a shot up. It’s that bad offensively. It was the same for Garland. We even made it difficult for Mobley. Not once Mobley got the ball at the elbow this series.

Once we have a coach who can utilize our players offensively, this team will spark.

It may be like Mark Jackson to Steve Kerr impact.

2 non shootings bigs and 2 small guards was always going to be an issue. Don't see them moving Mitchell but his ball dominant style paired with sub optimal playmaking limits his team's top level. Allen needs to be moved,, Levert was a pointless move from the start.

What immediate impact wing is available given the assets/cap space available?

I wish Portland would do some sort of sign and trade for Grant.

I would be open to moving Garland if it brought back a top ten player to pair with Mitchell and whatever is left. Basically build this shit from the ground up if the opportunity presents itself.

Mitchell I bet demands a trade. The shrimp backcourt stuff is over.

Garland and Mobley are both you and inexperienced, they have an excuse for being disappointing. Mitchell has none. And he was the worst of the 3.
