The Chubb-Hub Yardage Delivery Service

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
For anyone questioning whether or not we should pay Nick Chubb, I will ask you this: do you want to be a winning football team? If so, there's no getting around paying Chubb. Unless things change with Baker or we find a better option at QB, the only way this team is winning football games is by riding Chubb and Hunt until the wheels fall off. If we need to cut money elsewhere so be it. We honestly might be a 4-6 or 3-7 team without him.

If Hunt continues to look like a stud, then they probably can't/shouldn't pay both of them.

But yes, pay Nick Chubb. And I'm generally against the idea of paying big for a RB. I mean, it's not helping Carolina at all right now. It's a position that gets banged up easily.

BUt he's too good. Even last year, with that piece of shit offensive line that couldn't block sandpaper, he was still churning out yards.

There are lots of ways to win without paying Nick Chubb. Most of the winning teams in the NFL are currently winning without paying Nick Chubb. In fact, every winning team in the history of the NFL did so without paying Nick Chubb.
I agree. Let his contract expire and let him walk. Actually, let’s just cut him now and not even deal with the distractions.

Do you see me saying we shouldn't re-sign him? Do you see me saying we should cut him now?

All I'm saying is that, to claim that it's impossible to build a winning football team without re-signing Chubb is wrong. There are multiple paths to get to the promised land. Sticking your fingers in your ears and refusing to hear things doesn't change reality.

lol. Chubb deserves a good extension. He is everything we want and need in a Brown. Not to mention our best player in offense.
We can compare him to Gurley, but Gurley was signed 2 years early and when his contract would have expired, he was already shot.
Chubb has been relatively healthy and hasn’t said a word about money, carries or a new contract. I think after the season discussing a 3/4 yr extension is warranted.
Baker isn’t and won’t be “that” guy, Chubb means a lot to the offense and he isn’t just replaceable, not even by Hunt.

We have the best rushing attack in the NFL. Let’s go big on contract and relatively small on guarantees. It’s just about health so we can protect ourselves. Dude is incredible rushing the football.

I love the dual running back attack. Takes me back. Too bad the Pro Form isn't used much anymore.
Chubb's cut back is SOOOO great and works amazing in our scheme.
I'd love to keep them both.

I think I'd rather keep both then having OBJ actually, if I HAD to pick.

I don't think there's much of a question that, right now, Chubb brings more value to the field than OBJ. OBJ is also older with more injuries than Chubb, so as time moves on, the disparity should grow.

Basically it’s been proven time-and-time again in the modern NFL that there are two ways to win:

1. Elite offense with elite QB
2. Elite defense with a high-level rushing attack that can control the clock and keep opposing offenses off the field.

We already have the RBs and the OL for #2. We have a couple of the defensive pieces and I think we can fill most of those holes this offseason. We’re a good QB from having a elite offense, but that’s harder to find than the defensive pieces we need.

Hunt’s a good RB, but he’s not Nick Chubb. It’s kind of like Denver going from Terrell Davis to Olandis Gary and Mike Anderson. Both were good RBs, but neither were Terrell Davis no matter how bad they wanted to be.

If we do anything at RB, we need to draft an RB this year who can return kicks, is a great pass catcher, and could potentially serve as Hunt’s eventual replacement. I’d love to re-sign Hunt, but he’s going to want to cash-in on what will likely be his last big contract.

The problem is OBJ might be impossible to trade until after the 2021 season. With his contract, his performance over the last two years, and his timetable for recovery, it’s quite possible he’s not even healthy enough to be traded by the time we hit the 2021 trade deadline.

One of Landry and OBJ will need to go. Whether we pay Chubb or Hunt (hopefully Chubb), we can’t be paying Landry, OBJ, and Hooper a combined $30+ mill/year, especially not with how Stefanski likes to run his offense.

We’re going to need to draft a WR relatively high in the next year or two to replace Landry or OBJ. I wouldn’t be against taking one in the 2nd or 3rd considering OBJs recovery timetable.

This might be the year to use a first on a receiver. There's some real top-tier talent available and it looks to be another deep class at the position like 2020.

I wanted to keep OBJ and Landry but I don't see how we can afford both and also paying Chubb, Ward, Myles, etc. I think Landry is more valuable to us, even if OBJ might be the better player. OBJ seems like the odd man out, just because of money. I'd like to see Bryant make Hooper a luxury we don't need also to free up some money in a year or two.

OBJ’s physical decline combined with his lack of overall fit with the offense kind of makes the decision a bit easier imo. Fit probably isn’t the right word, but at this point I think he presents too much of a barrier for Mayfield.

It feels weird to say that about a guy who was seemingly once in an echelon of his own, but I think the offense can move on from him with relative ease.
