The Jarvis Landry Thread: Bless 'Em

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I am late to the party, but @Out of the Rafters at the Q, this gets to your point about Jarvis being a good option on motion/sweeps pre-snap.
I knew my eyes didn't fool me THAT badly :)

Now, if you want to call into question why someone who eludes so many tackles also doesn't see higher productivity, that's when football becomes so much more complex to statistically analyze than the other major sports. How do you use stats to judge someone who played in the tight, stagnant Dolphins and Browns offenses versus someone playing in a prolific, spread-out offense?

The problem is you run into kitchen-sink models. You can evaluate things that require less than 16 independent variables, but once you have more variables than observations, you’re in trouble. Even if you make every play for every team and observation, if you have 30 variables then you’re adjusted R-squared is probably very low.

Spatial tracking could help explain it. NFL is not as advanced as the NBA, but theoretically, if a receiver is avoiding tackles running horizontally while still not gaining a lot of yards, that tells you a lot more about what is going on then an EPA model.

That's basically our entire receiver group?
Not basically, it IS our entire receiver group. We just elevated a bunch of practice squad guys to be able to play the game tomorrow.

EDIT: I was wrong! Apparently Marvin Hall was on our active 53 man roster and he is still eligible.

This defense probably wouldn’t be fun to watch in the playoffs anyway.

This is a big thank you to Jarvis for being a huge reason this culture has changed with the team. He might not put up huge stats or be all pro but the guy is so important to this team. I’m sure he is loving this just as much as we are

Landry is probably a tad bit overrated but he's a HUGE addition to this team - no question about it. Also, this type of move might make some other guys more willing to buy in to what Dorsey and the Browns are selling.

LISTEN, we've been trash for 20 years. TRASH! This could very well be the first domino in the greatest Browns offseason in recent memory. Live it up, boys. We deserve this and MORE!
@Vee-Rex is a God damn profit
