Ok, I thought about it, and it still makes PERFECT sense. I think maybe YOU should think about it.
Do you really think that LEBRON JAMES, the biggest superstar and icon on the planet, does not have some say at Nike? Like the Cavs, Nike also wants to keep LeBron happy. And Nike has the right to advertise their client as they see fit.
I don't think they're helping out with the actual contract... but the fact is he would get a ton more endorsements in Cleveland then non-exhistant markerts like Milwakee (possibly the least marketable team in the league.) It's not dumb at all. It's life. Just like LeBron would be getting more if he was on the Lakers because Los Angelos is more marketable. Redd also would get probably 10 times as many games on national TV in Cleveland, which would make him much more well known and popular. Which leads to better selling jerseys and other items. That leads to more money in Redds pocket. All LeBron would be doing, in my opinion, would be having Nike make it clear for Redd what he'd get from them if he comes to Cleveland and becomes more marketable. Example- I live in Arizona. Even here, I see more Cavs jerseys then ANY other team. In Pheonix. More then the Suns, Lakers, Knicks, and especially the Bucks. In fact, i've never seen a single person away from an actual Bucks game in one of their jerseys.
How can you call that stupid? You must not understand marketing very much.
