The Rise of Skywalker spoilers thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I didn't really care for the guy they cast to play Solo. He was awful. Other than that, it was a pretty forgettable and inoffensive movie. I thought they butchered Han's character a bit by retconning him as this guy who was pretty much always a good guy, which went against his personality at the start of the original trilogy (basically the first thing we see him do is kill Greedo in cold blood) and also negates his character arc in that trilogy.

But compared to the garbage prequels and the shitty new movies, it wasn't that bad. I think the main issue is that Rogue One was so good and then Solo was more of a sad handjob of a film.

I thought Solo did a nice job with the Woody Harrellson character...sort of what Han would have ended up like if he hadn't run in to Luke. And I did like the interaction between Solo and Harrellson's character at the end of the movie.

I really liked Rogue One -- only drawback was Jyn Erso, who I thought was kind of annoying. The speech she gives to convince other rebels to join her was pretty cringeworthy.

Solo had problems, but is probably the best Disney star wars movie outside of Rogue one.

How about that last Clone Wars episode? That was one of the best episodes that shows ever had. Pretty awesome that Ray Park did a lot of mocap for the lightsaber battle with Ashoka. Felt like I was watching Episode 1 (the good parts) for a minute.

Ah shit, forgot about CW being back.

I will have to watch it tomorrow.

Happy Star Wars day. Final episode of Clone wars is today. Also, Maul decimating clones in the last episode was fucking fantastic.

Watched Rogue One yesterday. That movie is so good. I'll never understand how they made that one so good and the rest were all mediocre at best.

Also, Taika Wahtiti is directing a future film. Not sure how I feel about it. Personally, I found Ragnarok and Hunt for the Wilderpeople to be overrated. Also, they tried hiring a comedy director with Lord and Miller and they had to fire them. I know people love Taika but I am skeptical.

I mean, he's by far the most talented director that has helmed a Star Wars film this millennium, and he should have an Oscar for best picture because Jojo Rabbit was better than Parasite.

As far as Ragnarok goes...he made Thor not suck, and actually provided some direction for the character going forward. That's pretty impressive because Thor was the most boring character in the MCU prior.

Also want to add that the bar for a Star Wars movie has really never been lower, so all Taika has to do is make something halfway decent and it'll be competing with Rogue One for the best Star Wars movie since the eighties.

I mean, people were praising Solo in here almost solely because it was merely boring and forgettable, not outright bad.

We have Ron Howard, Lord and Miller and Rian Johnson all be directors. I like Taika but I don’t know if he’s by far the best director. I mean Ron Howard’s career is pretty good.

Taika is certainly unique, which is great, but so is Rian Johnson and he made a prequel level movie. If we were dipping into MCU directors, I think Favreau or the Russos or Coogler or even Gunn would fit better for Star Wars.

Hope I’m wrong but given how lucasfilm has handled stuff, I am not optimistic.

After rewatching the entire MCU this past month, I'm not sure Taika changed Thor's character as much as he gave him improved supporting characters to play off of.

The bright color scheme and music was big as well in improving the Thor franchise.

He directed the episode of Mandalorian with the storm troopers shooting the shit.

Also that final episode of Clone Wars was fucking great. Really recommend.
