The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm... really not excited for just a remaster of the original. Some of that gameplay was a slog. The rover thing on the planet surfaces? Jesus those parts were awful. It's embarrassing that they'd simply remaster that game instead of remaking it and fixing some of the issues that they addressed in ME2 and ME3.

It's still my favorite video game story of all time... I enjoyed Andromeda as well.

I will admit that ME1 was def a slog when it came to the rover stuff. But I'm willing to accept that in exchange for an overall upgrade on graphics. I'm particularly excited for what modders can do with the PC release.

EA has known for quite a while that they were going to re-release the ME trilogy.

The fact that they're just remastering it instead of remaking it is a lazy cash grab.

I thought the word was that ME1 they were modernizing a bit more due to those complaints.

Maybe that is just graphical. Honestly, I agree, makes me much less excited. Played through ME1 a million times, but the last time was over five years ago and it hadn't aged kindly at that point...gameplay wise, not just visually...

Happy for a remaster, but just as disappointed as well. Part of the charm of ME1 was how abusable the AI was. Probably my 2nd favorite game story of all time, even if they completely fucked the ending. But using the Indoctrination fan theory fixes most of my problems with it.

Andromeda wasn't even terrible other than the graphics at launch. Characters felt a little bland but nothing overtly terrible. Not getting any story DLC and instead getting a novelization of that DLC was the most disheartening aspect.

I have very tempered reservations about a new ME in general. There isn't a single original writer still with Bioware at this point.

So basically, Andromeda and whatever else comes after it will be considered like Kurtzman Trek to me. It's there, it shares a name, but that's about where it ends.

Anyone got a PS5 they want to sell? Impossible to find one that isn't $800-$1000 and there's no way in hell I'm doing that.

BioWare is dead at this point. They haven't released a truly great game in ages and I don't see that changing any time soon now that EA has effectively pushed out all the people who made the company great.

They talked about improving the Mako playability and that's about it. I would love to have a complete revamp to a me2/3 or andromeda combat if we could, but I get @Out of the Rafters at the Q 's take on it being more of an EA money grab. They have always seemed against the idea, compared to other companies who pump out remasters/remakes so I wasn't expecting anything better than what we are getting.

Playing the Matriarch Benezia part with better combat would be awesome though.

As much as I love the original trilogy, I hope they don't do first contact war or something else during the Reaper/Shepard story. Andromeda was raw and had issues, but felt much like the original in the world building. The idea of long travel and waking up to find that nothing is what was predicted is an intriguing enough story/world. Make those characters more interesting, add new ones, or even jump up in the timeline to find out more information about the stories that left open.

1. Who made the scourge? They were clearly battling something else. So 2 new species can easily be added.
2. Who is the benefactor? They leave that open.
3. Only are exploring a fraction of the Andromeda galaxy in it's self.

So it be worth watching as they release small bits of info. Most likely it will be the Main studio that did the original trilogy and Anthem(which had solid gameplay, just a really worthless Games As A Service mechanic and weak story outside of the main base.

/end rambling

I thought there was enough info to glean that the Benefactor was the Illusive Man.

Ah, that would make sense. The fact that they did not come out and specifically say it, it definitely leaves room for wiggle room.
