Started playing Persona 3 Portable today, and about an hour and a half in, I'm struck by how much more upbeat the music is than in P5R.

Well, to be fair, the entire first act in Persona 5 is about a teacher physically and sexually abusing his students.

About 12 hours into God of War and it is truly great. However, I can’t help feel it’s a bit too long. Seems like I’m just getting started. It takes a lot for me to go over the 20 hour mark on a single player game, and I’m sure this will hold my interest though.

Also, it has some of the worst menus and integration of its RPG mechanics. Numerous gear and skill screens, trees, menus for armor and talents and multiple characters worth… just ugh. And I eat that shit up usually but it’s exhausting here. Less is more sometimes.

Game is sick though!

That kind of stuff is why I didn't get Gotham Knights. I would have loved to just kick ass as Batgirl. Give me a simple skill tree. But no, here's loot and armor and ugh.

They had one job. Make it like Arkham City.

But it’s just menus on top of menus on top of menus. And they’re difficult to interpret quickly imo. Thankfully it’s all easily avoidable if you don’t want to dick with it.

Yeah, I agree that the GoW menus are a confusing mess. There is just too much shit to juggle and the game never does a great job of explaining what any of it means. I usually just equip whatever has the highest number and don’t bother with crafting at all.

If anyone hasn't yet played the Batman Arkham games, or wants to re-play them, you can currently get the entire collection on Steam for nine bucks. Well, minus Origins. If you want that too it'll set you back another five bucks.

If and when you guys get Hogwarts Legacy. Get the PS version. That exclusive Hogsmead quest was very fun. Best quest in the game so far.

I want this developers to make a LOTR game or a ASOIAF game. Open world Middle Earth or Westeros would be amazing.

I signed up for GamePass because I wanted to replay the original Gears of War and decided to also give Atomic Heart a test drive.

Not sure I've ever played a game that feels so AAA visually and so instant access narratively. The writing is so bad that it's noticeable, even by video game standards. And keep in mind I'm comparing this directly to the original Gears of War, which is an insanely dumb, absurdly macho experience. It feels like Shakespeare compared to Atomic Heart. The characters in Gears, while meatheads, are actually likable and occasionally funny or charming. The main character in Atomic Heart drops the absolute worst quips I have ever had the displeasure of hearing and has all the charm of a bag of cold dog shit. If you own a dog and have ever accidentally picked up the wrong pile of poop in the dead of winter, that's what the writing in this game feels like.

It's such a shame too, because the bones are here for a really cool game. As mentioned, it's fucking gorgeous. The art design is fantastic. The gameplay is an adequate mimicry of BioShock, which is to say a bit clunky but functional and fun enough. The problem is that, unlike BioShock, the writing in no way compensates for the good but not great gameplay. Writing this bad should not make it to final release in a AAA game like this. The lack of quality control here is astounding.

The best way I can think to describe the maturity level of the writing is to picture Beavis & Butthead minus the irony.

Yeah, I just downloaded it overnight and gave it a shot since it was included with GamePass anyway.

I’m honestly not sure how the publisher let it ship with such awful translation. Or perhaps it’s that bad in Russian too. Either way, the awful and generic American voice actor doesn’t help. Could have at least given the dude a Russian accent given the setting. He sounds like a bargain bin Nathan Drake and it’s actually distracting.

The people who worked on the art design for the game deserve some real credit, though, because the visuals are the only thing that makes the game worth playing. If it had mediocre graphics, the game would be a complete pile of shit.
