The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Been enjoying Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Seems like Team Ninja’s Sekiro-style of Soulslike. But the parry windows aren’t too bad. Very satisfying combat. I’m only to the second boss - the first took me maybe 15 tries, apparently he’s one of the hardest.
It’s Nioh in China, and I’ve been having a blast with it.

Parry windows are probably the most forgiving I’ve seen in a Souls/Soulslike game.

I’m gonna circle back to Nioh 2 after this I think.

I've been thinking the same. I played the hell out of the first one, but stopped part of the way through the second for some reason.

…. I died 30 times to the first big enemy you fight and quit. :chuckle:

Now that I’ve gotten gud at these games, relatively… I’d like to give it another go.

I’m pretty sure I know the exact one you’re talking about.

I’m probably the only Souls guy who hasn’t really played Elden Ring yet, too. (i’m like a couple hours in and shelved it to play other stuff first) saw they announced DLC. I should probably jam that shit soon.

Downloaded a ps3 emulator and started playing NCAA14 with current rosters. Fun throwback.

Looking for games on Steam that are single player. Anyone player The Witcher or Assassins Creed Valhalla? They both look decent, review wise.
I'm also a single player gamer. The recent Spider Man games are a lot of fun- similar to the Batman Arkham games if you played those.

As others have mentioned Witcher 3 is one of the best single player games I've ever played. Well worth the hype. I'm not even close to finishing yet, but I play at a snail's pace. Red Dead Redemption 2, Fallout 4 and Firewatch are some other good single player games that I've enjoyed. Horizion Zero Dawn gets a lot of praise- it didn't really click with me, but it's a very popular one.

In my opinion, Elden Ring was probably one of the easiest in the series, but that doesn't mean it wasn't still a fantastic experience. I really enjoyed the open world as a new, unique experience for Souls games.

I'm definitely looking forward to the DLC; FromSoftware always knocks it out of the park with their DLC.

Made any more progress in Wo Long? I play bits and pieces when I can (I'm sure you can relate as a fellow new father and full time worker) but I think I just beat the fourth or fifth boss this morning before work, can't remember. Not sure if there's an achievement for it, but I've been going out of my way to find all the flags in every level and collect the golden cicada shells (I believe there's one in every main mission).

It was some big cow thing with tentacles that moved surprisingly fast and gave me some trouble; probably the most trouble I'd had with a boss since the first "two phase" boss.

I haven’t played since I got to Zhuyan. Whether I game at night or not is entirely dependent on how I’m feeling at 8-9pm ish after work and wrangling the baby :chuckle: And honestly sometimes these games are just not what I’m feeling at night so I end up playing something a bit more chill. I’ll definitely be jumping back in soon though.

Hopped on for a quick Wo Long session, wasn’t even feeling it honestly but then I beat Zhuyan in a few tries. Pretty easy boss but still super fun and satisfying.

Ok fucked up the boar boss too. Wasn’t bad either.

Started a nuzlocke in Shining Pearl, just because I had the urge to play some Pokemon in between all the Splatoon 3, Persona 3, and Super Mega Baseball 3.

Fyi I booted Nioh 2 back up, Wo Long had me feeling confident. Hooooooooo boy, this legit may be the hardest game ever made. I actually did beat the guy I was stuck on and made it to the second shrine. Fought a few human enemies then ran into a different demon fucker that proceeded to steamroll me. So I had to fight my way back to him and …. Died again. Then I died to the mobs in between the shrine and the demon. Repeated this for an hour and shut the game off.

Now, Nioh 2 is way different from Wo Long, much more so than I had remembered. So maybe I’m just not in the right mindset.

I’m loving Wo Long, but I definitely think Nioh 2 is the more polished (and definitely tougher) game. I’m looking forward to getting back into it. I did the same with the first Nioh - took a break and started over - and ended up completely clearing it.

So something happened that I wasn’t anticipating in Wo Long - there I was, minding my own business, cutting down demons and making the rivers run red with the blood of yellow turbans, when all of a sudden I got invaded! I ended up winning against the dude, but as an aforementioned father to an infant, I can obviously get called away from the game unexpectedly, which isn’t optimal if you can get invaded at any time. Luckily, you can turn this feature off.

What rules did you go by? Just the first pokemon in an area and the if a pokemon faints, to let them go/no longer can be used?

First Pokemon in a route/area unless I already have that Pokemon, then it's whatever the first one is that I don't have.
All Pokemon must be nicknamed.
If they faint, they go into the box.

If I should happen to fail at any point, I'll just convert it into a normal run through the region, since I like to play through Sinnoh once a year anyway. Two gyms without casualty so far though!
