Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Would you do TT + Sexton for him? I would, even after the health concerns brought up.
No. Turner is exactly the kind of player I would not touch. If I am trading Tristan, I want a first, a young prospect big and a bad contract..

He has the look of a star player, but not the execution. 6'11" 250, mobile, 35% from three, but is not able to show as the best post player on his own team, and got dominated by bam abedeyo just two days ago.. he has taken a step back in his sixth year with the pacers this year.. he has been playing starter minutes, but just does not seem to get better.. I mean physically he is AD, so why is he an average big?

There are rumors of an injury so there is that..

I think given our particular arc, if we are gambling on an injury, we would look for someone pretty young, short track record, that will come cheap.. Exum is a good example.

I would consider Turner if he came with a solid first, but I don't think Indy has that, or would do that. If they are willing to add a first to that trade, then fine, but without that, not interested..

I would also do Whiteside for TT&sex if he comes with a first as well. I think Portland would value that more than Indy. TT fits better next to Nurkic, and Sexton provides relief for Dame in low challenge regular season games. That an we will never face them in the playoffs... Whiteside is not a long term piece, but is a trade able contract to a team that has shit for bigs.. he is a distraction in Portland when Nurkic returns..

I think Turner is a better return for TT + Sexton than Portland's pick and Whiteside.

Do you think Whiteside is better than Turner? I don't at all

I'm suggesting Turner won't be dealt but if the price to beat is TT and a 1st teams will be lining up to get Turner and top that offer quickly.

The more I look at Turner, like I understand thinking there is a lot of untapped potential there, but TT totally dominated him in the playoffs, and their numbers are almost identical in the regular season.

The difference is that TT is an elite rebounder and Turner is an average 3pt shooter. He doesn't actually qualify as a stretch big with that %. He does block a shot more per game and is legit Center sized, so he might be more of a deterrent in the paint.

I guess the question is when is he breaking out? Not while Sabonis is getting his touches. Turner is a finisher, but is not really an aggressive scorer.

TT is 5 years older, but is also an NBA champion and a coach on the floor. Maybe the Pacers value that. I don't think it is that crazy. They alos have a chance to open up cap for another NBA difference maker while keeping TT at a smaller number, and essentially completely replacing Turners numbers.

Myles is considered inconsistent, whereas TT is reliable every single night and only Drummond outrebounds him.

I dunno. The more I think about it, the more sense it makes to make the trade from the Pacers point of view. Get a first, replace Turner's production at a cheaper price going forward when Sabonis extension kicks in and get a little space to sign someone else.

TT is not the rim protector Turner is let alone the shot blocker. Turner led the league in shot blocking last season. Tristan won't have the impact on defense that Turner provides. Turner stretches the floor for them keeping the lane open for Deepo, Brogdon and their other guards. Turner while not a good rebounder also gets less chances because he spends a good amount of time on the peremiter on offense. This trade makes zero sense from the Pacers perspective unless they view Turner as a Salary dump.

Who do you think would make a bigger impact for them in the playoffs? Be honest, because on a bum leg in 2018 TT pushed Turner's balls into his body. TT is a better screener and they have 2 guys in Dipo and Brogdan that would get even better looks at the rim with TT.

It's Turner's defensive rebounds that are a problem.

Turner will have a bigger impact. I don't think you realize how good of a defender he is. Sabonis in his own right is a great rebounder so what need does TT fill for them? Turner also only makes 18 M flat the next 3 seasons. Sabonis will make slightly less then 18 M next season. Brogdon and Deepo also make less then the max. I don't see what kind of cash problems pacers will have paying them all at least through next season.

I personally think if the Pacers were going to do a deal for a Cavs player for Turner that it would center around Turner for Love. I think Love would fit better in that group than TT. I don't think it would actually happen though because Love doesn't fit their window that well.

If I was going to the finals I choose Tristan. If I was choosing a guy to go with our core, I would chooser Turner. That's me. I just know Indiana values guys differently in the league.

They don't have cash problems, but they might be able to add another guy making 20M if they swap Turner out for a cheaper guy that gives them a lot of the same stuff.

Unless the Cavs get an offer far above market value, I'd prefer trying to keep TT long-term. He seems to be a well-liked leader in our locker room, and is a solid big with championship experience. Completely turning over the roster is a dangerous game in trying to build a winning culture.

If Koby and the front office want to keep TT, they shouldn't sell him on a long extension. It should be 1+1 deals where maybe they over pay him alittle but it gives them the flexibility of if he wants out any some point that they can move him without attaching an asset.

I'm sorry, but no. He needs to be traded for anything we can get for him. He's been a better citizen than KLove and we need to capitalize on that. It's depressing we haven't seen him in trade speculation as of yet, but I assume Ferry will get off his hands and get something of use for him.

He literally doesn't provide them a lot of the same stuff. What Tristan provides is closer to what Sabonis provides for them. TT is not the rim protector Turner is. You throw in TT next to Sabonis and they may clean up the glass but the inside of the defense gets destroyed on a nightly basis.
