Your 2019 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not arguing that point of it, but the fact they cried poor means they didn't get much in dividend, but I would rather own a sports team over anything in the world, just saying you don't do it for financial gain. Sometimes you make good money, but in general its a very expensive toy.
It could mean that, or it could mean they have very expensive lifestyles that no matter what they invested in they would be spending to their limits. Or it could mean they took those dividends and placed them in other illiquid assets along the way.

Or they could just be assholes and they aren’t nearly as “cash poor” as they cry.

But without actually seeing the books it’s all a guess as to how much they were actually making off the team. But the profit source of that is a component of it. Then if they reinvested any annual profits elsewhere it factors into the equation in the same way compounding interest would. The total return could end up looking a lot better than just the price return

One trip through the rotation later and this group is now worth 7.7 rWAR.

Combined stats are bonkers, even if it’s mostly Bieber.

30-13, 3.57 ERA, 366 IP, 385 K, 88 BB

8.2 rWAR

32-18, 3.52 ERA, 414 IP, 429 K, 97 BB.

They have a combined WHIP of 1.13, which would rank 21st this year individually, and that’s 3 guys combined.

Again, ridiculous production from one draft, especially one with a higher rated prospect that hasn’t broken through yet in Nolan Jones.

Does an all-star team of the White Sox, Royals, and Tigers win the division?

I don’t think that team even wins 80 games.
I’d like to put this team together, and see what we have.

Pitching staff is for sure Giolito and a bunch of mediocre at best guys.

Lineup would be potent though.

Here's my best guess, I'm going to assume this season's injuries stick around, so no Salvy Perez behind the dish.

2B - Whit Merrifield
SS - Tim Anderson
1B - Jose Abreu
DH - Jorge Soler
3B - Hunter Dozier
RF - Eloy Jimenez
C - James McCann
LF - Alex Gordon
CF - Leury Garcia

UTL C - John Hicks
UTL IF - Jordy Mercer
UTL OF - Billy Hamilton
UTL - Brandon Dixon

SP - Lucas Giolito
SP - Matthew Boyd
SP - Brad Keller
SP - Ivan Nova
SP - Spencer Thurnbill

CL - Alex Colome
RP - Aaron Bummer
RP - Ian Kennedy
RP - Buck Farmer
RP - Joe Jimenez
RP - Mike Montgomery
RP - Evan Marshall

The starting rotation is absolute garbage and the bullpen is nothing to write home about. The lineup is pretty good overall though.

If you're getting the Franmil of the balance of this season, I'd argue yes.

Clevenger and Bieber are your 1-2 this season.

Bauer is an excellent 3rd piece in a post-season rotation, but he has not been anything close to the dominant player he's been before. His metrics aren't that great, and he's been worse since the deal.

If you were able to slide in Plesac with Carrasco backing him up out of the bullpen in a Game 3, would you really be shorting yourself?
IMHO , the problem with the tribe pitching is more the lack of a great closer, than a decent rotation.. So in that sense strengthening the batting line up makes more sense, and the future value is candy on top.

Torn ACL for Naquin. Bauers recalled from Columbus.

Carlos Santana should be a leading candidate for AL MVP in my mind.

I'm a big fan of Santana and I don't think any of us expected him to do what he's done this season. You still can't vote him ahead of Mike Trout though.

Carlos Santana: .294 BA, .963 OPS, 148 OPS+, 31 HR, 82 RBI, 27 2B, 98 BB, 4 SB, 4.4 WAR
Mike Trout: .292 BA, 1.082 OPS, 182 OPS+, 43 HR, 101 RBI, 27 2B, 106 BB, 11 SB, 8.0 WAR

Trout not getting the MVP this season would be flat out criminal. Santana definitely has a case for runner up however, although I do currently have Bregman ahead of him for sure.
