These things are impossible to predict.

Can they get hot, sure!

Are they outmatched by Houston and New York due to their injuries? Sure.

To me this may not be a bad thing since last year we went in on cruise control and we got burnt. This season we had to work our butts off to even get the wild card. I actually feel we are mentally ready for the playoffs right now cause of it. This is just one of those seasons where there is 6 contending type of teams and 5 spots to get in and 4 playoff spots. Indians fighting I think keeps them mentally good, but do we have the time/player health to get in? Only time will tell!

Quite the contrary since I would have said they didn’t go into cruise control to finish the season lol

All bad sports takes are usually made up of the similar cliche’s, yes.

So just making up the belief they were coasting, because they lost, is a bad take.

I personally felt they weren’t ready for that series in general. In my mind I feel a lot better energy coming from them for this playoff run than last year, but that’s my opinion so take it with a grain of salt

I don’t really take it with anything. But a good word to the wise is to not talk yourself into pretending you know the mindset of a team.

It’s just nonsensical.

Except we didn't win it all last year, which is kind of his point. Last year we were on cruise control, and we failed. Maybe that was a part of it, maybe not, but there's nothing wrong with speculating that perhaps we'll be more focused this year because we've had to scratch and claw the entire season.

That's kind of what happened in '97. We were the fourth best team in the conference record-wise because of injuries, etc., and not much was expected of us. But the team kind of rallied around that and things like Thome's red socks, and came one pitch away from winning the World Series.

Maybe that kind of mindset stuff matters, maybe it doesn't. But absolutely nothing wrong with guys like @sportscoach tossing around stuff like that.
