15th Roster Spot?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I wonder if Arinze Onuaku (f/c) from Canton Charge will get another look this season. If Dalembert isn't signed, I'd give Onaku a look.

he's so short though :/ plus i remember hearing his 10-day last year was a 'thank you" paycheck for performing so well in the D-League

I hope we don't waste Haywood's contract on a backup PG. Another center is a far more important and needed role. A backup PG won't make any difference. Just look at the difference that a rim protector has made for us and the Haywood contract could net us another Mozgov caliber center. It's also a lot easier to find a PG than a center.

If Haywood is traded, obviously the team would somehow acquire another C/PF to take his place on the roster. Trading Haywood would free up an additional roster spot, giving them two slots to fill total -- one for a big, one for another player, presumably a PG.

In a quick follow up: Quincy Miller is two games into returning to the NBA with Sacramento. 7ppg, 4 rpg with a steal and a block per game. Still shooting a terrible percentage. If he ever irons out that jump shot he would be a good rotational SF.

I think the Cavaliers want to remain flexible in case of injury. No rush.

I'm thinking ahead to the summer when the Cavs will need to replace Shawn Marion since he is retiring.

I think Q. Miller is a guy to keep tabs on for this role.

A couple of other names that I am intrigued by are Jae Crowder and Al-Farouq Aminu. Aminu is working on a minimum contract with Dallas this year, and Crowder is in the final year of his rookie contract now with Boston.

I find the anonymous sources among the Cavs' players quoted by Haynes today to be very interesting...Does this mean that LeBron acknowledges that maybe having veterans who have "won a championship" is less important than having guys on your bench who can still play?

i'm still interested in Andray Blatche

Sounds like someone is lobbying to go to the Cavs:

Bobby Brown, whose contract with Dongguan Leopards includes an NBA out, could be available for NBA teams on February 1 since his club is no lock to make the postseason. Brown, who has experience in the NBA with Sacramento, Minnesota, New Orleans and LA Clippers, would be more than open to playing for the Cavaliers. "Right now, I'm focused on Dongguan and winning games with my teammates," Brown told HoopsHype. "I will say this about Cleveland: How could anyone not want to play with LeBron. First off, he is the best player in the league and second, you have a chance to be a part of a championship team. Plus, playing in Europe, I was a big fan of (David) Blatt and always wanted to play for him. Also, I have known (David Griffin) since I was in the draft and have always been a huge believer in him."

Listen to Bobby, Dion. Oops, too late! :chuckle:

How do we make this a prerogative to get Bobby Brown? I'll be watching every little step on how we do this. This guy looks good so don't be cruel. With all this humping around, we should be able to land him and Dalembert right?
Mr. Downtown really wants to be a Cavalier. Would he really be adding anything?

One of our point guard possibilities:

Pablo Prigioni - G - Knicks

The Pistons have been one of the teams who have shown an exploratory interest in Pablo Prigioni.

Brandon Jennings (Achilles) is likely done for the season pending the results of an MRI, but it is still a little puzzling to see them go after Prigioni when they have two capable backup point guards in D.J. Augustin and Spencer Dinwiddie.

Nothing is imminent at the moment, but we will pass along further updates as needed.

I really am against bringing in another PG...just makes no sense for me.

I'd love to bring in an athletic D-League big for a few 10-days while we are waiting on an answer from older vets (which I am guessing is why the spot is open). Love to see Khem Birch get a shot somewhere, why not here.

Oh?
If ya want something done, gotta do it yourself..
Yeah, I think this is gonna be another one of those funky ones..
If I was you, and you were me, you'd wanna be winnin'
If you want somethin' bad, yo, you gotta wanna give your all(hear that Dion?)
'Cause I believe so much in we and no we're not kiddin'
If you feel the same as me, yo, you gotta want to take the ball...

According to reports the Hornets are looking for a backup PG to replace Kemba while he is out for awhile.

Woj mentioned Ramon Sessions and Norris Cole as guys the Hornets were eying. Both players also have contracts that could be matched up with Haywood.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Cavs were also looking at both players.

I loved Razer Ramon!

But I was uneducated and had not yet been introduced to RCF. Something tells me he wasn't very popular here.
