In all honesty, if we can re-sign Shumpert, TT, and offer Mozgov an extension this off-season, that would put us in much better financial shape moving forward.
With the expected salary cap jump in 2016, getting those guys signed under the current CBA could potentially save us a ton of money 3-4 years down the road.
In terms of Haywood, I'd be down for trading him for the right guy. His contract is nice, but it might be far more difficult to move than we anticipate. Even if we could use his contract now to get a draft pick, I'd be really happy with that. Other teams will still view his contract as a big asset, but obviously it limits what we can take back in salary if we trade him this season.
Maybe we can convince Boston to give us back Zeller for Haywood straight up...haha. They might entertain the idea. With all the picks they have, the trade exceptions, and the cap space coming off the books, they'd have the potential to land a big time player in a trade with Haywood's deal and still go out and add someone through free agency and a high lotto pick. I'd definitely be interested in Olynyk as well if for some odd reason they made him available.
I wonder too if a guy like John Henson would be available. He's a young guy, good shot blocker, (1.7 blocks in 15 min a game!) good rebounder, and so on. I feel like he'd be a great fit in this rotation and in the system. He could play either PF or C as well.
