Thanks for that.Just a quick correction, Chris - Maccabi beat Real Madrid in the finals last year, not Barcelona.
Other than that, great stuff as usual.
Thanks for that.
I was telling Campy, now that Blatt's rejected my last four questions, I think the NBA facilitator thinks I'm Joe Vardon. Meanwhile Vardon asks LeBron what "toughness" is and actually gets a great answer. Maybe I'm the tool now and he's the master.
Still frustrated the reference to his mentor's book, Smart Steal from the Strong, and opening to give his team a pat on back would entice him but he said, (is book emblematic of your team since playoffs began): "No."
After the "all of the above" and "we missed shots" (why so many 4th Q rebounds for GSW in gm 1), I don't think the NBA believes I'm any good. Curses on you Blatt-ie!
So once the CAVS win the championship will Brendan Haywood also get a winners medal ? And if yes, then is he the luckiest player in NBA ?
Chris, I think the issue is Blatt doesn't want to get too cerebral in these mass media interviews. He's mostly concerned about building his players up while avoiding any possibility of controversy.
I'm pretty sure he is completely focused on certain specific things as well as being in some ways mentally exhausted. So the last thing he would want to do is parry questions that fall beyond the bounds of the Bull Durham paradigm. The key to these highly public questions might be to dumb things down a few ticks while still trying to evoke the kind of insight you're seeking. The inane Vardon questions give these guys a canvas to say what they want and they don't necessarily want to give anything specific or profound. Unfortunately the goal seems to be praise, hero worship, and inspirational pablum. There must be some way to split the gap.
great comment. thanks for the insight. I was very close to asking him how it FELT "to be so close" just to F with him.
