Game Thread | Game #10 | Cavs @ Clippers | Nov. 7, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I feel like we got stagnant,” Evan Mobley said. “We weren’t really running our sets and had a few turnovers at the end that got them going. We didn’t stop it. There’s still a learning curve. We’re still a young team. We still have a lot to learn."

Last week, Mitchell scored nine of Cleveland’s final 10 points in a win against the Celtics. He entered the game as the league’s eighth-best fourth-quarter scorer. That well-documented success on the biggest stages, in the biggest moments, was part of why the Cavs acquired him. With him, the burden was no longer Garland’s alone. As Bickerstaff likes to say, the two guards could ping pong off each other.

But throughout Monday’s fourth quarter, Garland reverted to last year’s bad habits, trying to do too much, overdribbling and too often settling...Mitchell went the final seven minutes without an official shot attempt...

Small samples sizes early in the season never tell the full story. But Mitchell is averaging 7.2 points in the fourth quarter while Garland is scoring just 2.3 points per game in the fourth on 22.2% shooting. He has yet to make a fourth-quarter triple. This comes on the heels of him ranking 35th in fourth-quarter scoring a year ago. - Fedor

80% winning percent after ten games.

From the posts here, all this accomplished with 2 of the Big 4 bums!

LOL.

I will say that the Cavs have shown a tendency to try to sit
on leads late in games . This time their asses got bit.

I know the Bucks are the better team, but they just got spanked by the 1st over .500 team they've played all season...IMO that's a worse gut punch than this loss...especially for a Championship contender

????they've already beaten that team once.

So how is this statement possible lol.

It's OK for fans to make every game life and death. It's not ok for the coach.

37 minutes and then 39 minutes for Mitchell back to back.

Leads the league in MPG by over a minute.

JBB has to see the bigger picture.

What this says is the media and people watching the game saw the EXACT SAME THING we saw….Garland dribbling too much and not giving the ball up.

Everyone dribbled and clanked, not just DG:

Possession 1 (4:10): DG brings ball up court, passes it to Mitchell, Mitchell passes it back; DG drives, kicks to LeVert, clanks the 3.

Possession 2 (3:45): Mitchell brings the ball up the court, dribbles the clock down; Mitchell drives, kicks it to Love, clanks the 3.

Possession 3 (3:13): DG brings the ball up the court, dribbles the clock down; Mitchell's defender denied him the ball, DG clanks a 3.

Possession 4 (2:49): Mitchell recovers OREB from DG's shot, dribbles the clock down, wanted to pass it to DG but DG was being denied the ball so Mitchell passes it to Kevin for a contested 3, clanks it.

Possession 5 (2:36): DG brings the ball up court, passes it to Mitchell, Mitchell passes it to LeVert who clanks the 3.

Possession 6 (2:16): JA steals ball, DG brings the ball up court, drives, beats his man but the layup was too strong, rims out.

Possession 7 (1:53): Mitchell brings the ball up court, dribbles the clock down, Mitchell passes it to DG, DG then tries passing it back to Mitchell, results in a turnover and 2 points.

Possession 8 (1:41): DG inbounds to Mitchell, Mitchell brings the ball up court, Mitchell gives up to Mobley who gives it up to DG; DG loses his handle and turns the ball over.

Possession 9 (1:22): DG brings the ball up court, dribbles the clock down, Mitchell sets a screen, DG beats his man, drives, and drops it off to JA, JA is fouled but nothing is called.

Possession 10 (56.0): DG brings the ball up court, dribbles the clock down, Mitchell asks for the ball but his man would have intercepted it and ran, DG gets space for a step back 3, clanks it.

Possession 11 (37.2): Mitchell is inbounded the ball, dribbles the clock down, hits Mobley as they bring the trap and Mobley lays it in for 2 (DG was wide open in the weak side corner, neither Mitchell or Mobley saw him; same as the ending of the second Celtics game in regulation where DG was open).

Possession 12 (15.0): DG brings the ball up the court; Mitchell points like he was supposed to get it, but DG attacks Jackson and is fouled. Clanks second FT. Legitimate gripe if that was why Mitchell was pointing.

Possession 13: (5.0): Mitchell brings the ball up court, shoots 3. Gets fouled.

Final possession (01.4): Neither touches the ball.

Darius' 3rd game. Took Mobley 4 to look right.

It's sucks, but from 2009, never having a real challenge is bad. You don't know what to do when things don't go your way.

The fouls especially the and-1s we're ridiculous.

This team needs adversity and I'd rather them lose a game like this where they can figure it out rather than the other team actually being better.

Clips have been ass and they barely beat them on a flukey night Morris and Paul hit most of their contested shots and they got a super friendly whistle at a point in the game contact usually is let go.

Not concerned. They need games like this to focus them. I'm honestly glad they beat themselves. A game like this keeps you humble. It sucked because they had it in hand, but this should refocus them.

His post game demeanor was very "whatever". I could be taking it the wrong way but that's how he came off to me. Didn't really take much personal accountability for his play down the stretch.
Well, I’m still salty AF. 9 hours post-game, and I slept some, but I’m still f’ing BITTER.

I’m ok with losses, when we don’t BLOW the friggin’ game. I want to see shit cleaned up. And I want to see us rampage all OVER the Kings.

What did you watch?

Literally the first quote from his interview last night: "We just got to execute, take care of the ball. I had a couple turnovers, I missed a free throw that was short. Execution and getting stops is the main thing, and that's what we have to work on".

And then at the end of the interview again takes individual responsibility for what happened at the end of the game and to look over what just happened and improve.

You guys are just making shit up now.

That's the thing I hate most about JBB. There was no adjustment to account for the pressure the Clippers put on us at the end as well. Fuck, just get it in Mobley's hands and let him play keep away, let 24 seconds run.

Mobley fouled out. It's why Kevin had to finish the game and why the Clippers were getting to the rim easier.

Mobley fouled out with 15 seconds to go. He did get his fifth with 4 minutes and a bit to go though, so that's likely why the Clippers were getting to the rim easier but it was MOSTLY free throws. 2:30 left was when everything started going to shit...
