Sounds like it's DeFilippo OC, Loggains QB Coach unless they can wedge Callahan out of Dallas

Re: Browns hire Jim O'Neil as DC.. OC still TBA

Don't know his relationship with CJ but if the Titans cut him this offseason, he had a decent year playing injured since week 3. Get a reasonable contract and I'd take a shot with him.

Re: Browns hire Jim O'Neil as DC.. OC still TBA

I think Jimmy can go ahead and start ordering championship rings.

Re: Browns hire Jim O'Neil as DC.. OC still TBA

Loggains is a solid hire at QB coach. Love that. Young. Did a great job with Locker, who really has his success in terms of tools and development under the radar due to injury.

Meanwhile, ole Difillpio or whatever the hell is name is bums me out BIG TIME. Raiders friends and Jets friends I know say players don't like him and he has a shit offensive mind. Disastrous with the Raiders. That'd suck balls.

Re: Browns hire Jim O'Neil as DC.. OC still TBA

I hate how everything the Browns do seems backwards. Why are we hiring position coaches without the chief coordinators? Why can't we do things the normal way and not be a laughing stock with EVERYTHING we do?

I really couldn't care less who's laughing at us or how we hire our coaches, as long as we hire the right ones.

IMO, people get too caught up in who gets hired first or how things are "supposed" to go

BTW, nowhere has it said Loggains is definitely the QB coach.. Telich is the only one that's said him as OC isn't true, but we've gotten nothing definitive on his role..

Exactly. Good lord. People find things to bitch about for no reason. Why does it matter if people are laughing at us for a coaching search? If he/they win, then it is irrelevant. Damn I cannot wait for baseball so I can be done with Browns shit until May...

Re: Browns hire Jim O'Neil as DC.. OC still TBA

I really like the way the offensive staff is coming together... Loggains, Montgomery and likely Moeller (OL coach) should all be excellent hires..

I would have been happy with Loggains as the OC quite frankly...

It's interesting to see what they decide to do with the OC position now... I have to think it'll either be DeFilippo or possibly try one last run at Callahan to see if they can pry him away from Dallas..

Quite frankly, I was never into Shanahan that much... I think he's a good mind but there's way too much going on with his situation in Washington... I don't know, while I think that environment was toxic, it seems to me that he had a large hand in that as well...

While I agree, the most important part is getting the right coaches and I'm pretty comfortable with Pettine, you can't gloss over the process of hiring these guys. Everything they've done this offseason has the appearance of incompetence in the eyes of many. Whether that's fair or not, that's the perception of fans, media but most importantly coaches and players. When you are in the business of acquiring talent you want the image that you know what you are doing. You want to install confidence in the people you are recruiting. After the last 13-14 months, they will have a hard time selling that.

It doesn't make sense from a logical standpoint. Whereas if you do it the other way around, the presumably higher level coaching talent is given the option to select guys he knows he's compatible.

It's piecemeal and disorganized.

They're hiring guys that you have no idea if their chief coordinators are going to mesh with or even agree with from a systematic standpoint.

The reason people get caught up in how it's supposed to go is because they've observed other teams that end up being successful doing it that way. And additionally, credible media types have been criticizing the way Browns have done things with not just opinions, but with info they've been given by agents, other front offices and people who actually matter and have legitimate opinions.

If it smells like a rat...

Leaves me to guess that the desirable guys they want, once again, don't want them.

Really?

Yes, I am concerned with how things are supposed to go. Proven, logical ways of doing things as opposed to the disorganized way of the current regime, yes I have a pretty good deal of concern there.

Yeah, color me unconcerned.

So we should let the offensive coordinator hire hie entire staff? Turner had a hand in that last year and he went the nepotistic route and hired his son who would later be facing a demotion.

Let the head coach make the decisions he feel are best for the team.

I'm not unconcerned, as they are blazing a relatively untouched path. I'm not taking this as "another" indictment on the way business is done by the Browns, though. I'm sure they don't give a shit what we think about how the "normal" process goes and I'm not sure how much we should...

Again, I really don't care how we go about hiring people, as long as it's the right guys. If we win next year, are you going to look back at how we hired these guys? Yeah, probably not..

And again, people are freaking out when there's been no definitive proof that we hired the QB coach before the OC..
