Memphis Grizzlies trade Rudy Gay to Toronto

Horrible, horrible trade for Memphis. They were contenders, and now they could get bounced by Golden State first round.
 
Wonder what would've happened if AV was healthy.. Could we have been a part of that deal.. Gay would've been a pretty good fit in Cleveland.

Is this actually a three-team deal? Or is this two separate trades? Because if so, because Memphis is over the cap, I didn't think they could trade a player they received in a trade for two months? So Memphis couldn't send Calderon to Detroit.
 
Does anyone else get the feeling that there were significant talks regarding Gay to Cleveland?

We just made a trade with some so I'm sure it came up during the discussions.
 
I like Ed Davis a lot, but how does he fit in the currently constructed Memphis team?

That was going to happen anyway with a healthy Bogut. Rudy Gay has been BAD people. Not decent. BAD. He's killing that team offensively this year.

No. Not at all. The Cavs, and any other team run by a gm who knows what the f*ck he's doing, aren't going to spend max money on Rudy-freaking-Gay.

I honestly get baffled when I read people think Rudy Gay is a Franchise type player, he got over paid that's it.

The Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors have agreed in principle on a trade that will send leading scorer Rudy Gay to the Raptors, according to sources with knowledge of the deal.

Sources told ESPN.com the Grizzlies will acquire forward Ed Davis and veteran guard Jose Calderon from the Raptors and then move Calderon to a third team to ultimately make this a three-team deal.

The Detroit Pistons, sources said, are one of the prime options to take on Calderon, having pursued the Spanish floor leader all season.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Pistons have agreed to send Tayshaun Prince and Austin Daye to the Grizzlies to acquire Calderon as part of the trade.

Memphis, sources said, is also expected to receive a second-round pick from Toronto as part of the deal.

The Raptors, sources said, are expected to take on Grizzlies reserve center Hamed Haddadi in addition to Gay.

The Dallas Mavericks, sources say, were also interested in acquiring Calderon but were not prepared to surrender swingman Vince Carter, whom Memphis coveted to help fill the void created by Gay's departure.

This makes our trade look that much better. They could be a dumpster fire in 2015.
