I wonder what the contract was. Probably close to the minimum.

I think so also. He just wanted to pursue his dream and get to play in the NBA.
He actually retired from his NT and European basketball earlier this year - so he knew exactly what he was saying.
I always wondered why he didn't made the jump earlier... After all he was the most dominant Center in the Euroleague for the past few years.
And make no mistake about it - to get him for a close to minimum is a freaking Bargain!!
And I'm sure coach Blatt has a lot to do with his signing.

I don't think anyone said for sure, but I'm pretty sure it was for that remaining money (~$1.1M) from the mini-MLE which was still a raise from the 500K he would have gotten on the rookie minimum.

I forgot he was technically a rookie. I was thinking vet minimum.

Well, it won't take him long to get here, since he already packed a couple of bags under his eyes.

Good lord, get some sleep Sasha. Dude looks like Lurch.

The only thing I care about is getting a Hammer and Sickle nickname going for our pair of Russian centers.

a bit more than min, used the rest of the mle to sign

2 years 2.6 mill

Its why we didnt pay Mo the full mini MLE

I just realized he'll be getting the rookie hazing treatment at 30 years old

Any chance this guy doesn't make the team? I just don't see him working out here.

I don't know if that is even possible at this stage.
But anyway, I think he is a great fit.

Based on what? This isn't a team that's going to take on a project or young guy. Kaun takes on the true backup center role and hopefully is a better fit than Perkins was. He does well in pick n rolls and is familiar with Blatt. Probably nothing more than 6-12 minutes per game, but that is what is asked out of the 4th/5th big.
