The official start mr. inconsistent thread

mr. inconsistent has looked better the last few games with hughes out. Damon jones hasnt. It seems damon jones does better coming off the bench. I think mr. inconsistent should start.

Well I've been a big Luke supporter along with LePip. That being said I wouldn't start him but I would move Newble into the starting lineup along with Snow and play Luke and Wilks ahead of Amon Ones (and yes I spelled his name right)

With newble in the lineup, yes we get defense but where is the offense coming from in our backcourt? it would be like playing 3 of 5 basketball. Ive seen luke hit the three, drive through the lane and make some smart passes. I even saw some defense from him. Start him and bring amon off the bench.

Well I figure Jones isn't helping the offense or defense right now so you can start Newble. Jackson is still a rookie in many ways and the best thing him to do is to get plenty of minutes without the additional pressure of starting.

I also am still a Jackson fan.

Even if he doesn't start, Mike Brown now has to commit to giving him a regular spot in the rotation and regular minutes. Jackson should be seeing a minimum of 10-12 minutes a game. He has the most versatile and most well rounded game of any of the players available to fill in with Hughes out. Just because Newble and Jones are veterans doesn't mean they should be automatically guaranteed big minutes--especially with the weak performances they've been giving and how neither will be a long term factor for this franchise.

I think a lot of this is due to Brown being a young rookie coach. He has to prove himself just like a rookie player and it's hard to do that on a team with a lot of veterans by starting a young guy. If he does well Ok, but any little mistake might be amplified in Brown's mind. That being said Newble and Jone have been given plenty of oppurtunities so give Luke a real shot now

I think Newble should start and Jackson off the bench. Jackson is playing the part of Av's "Mini Me" right now

last 4 games for Jackson with about 8 minutes a game.

5.8 ppg
1.8 rpg
1.3 orpg
1.0 apg
Fact: last 4 games he played he atleast grabbed a offensive rebound

That's productive and energy.

He still makes mistakes at times but has been productive.

I thought you were Lepip at first LMAO!

I admit I was impatient with Luke when he either hit the three or was too indecisive but if this is what he plans on bringing every game start the kid..

He is a powerpack and has been the last few games, he's been frustrated by not playing so Brown told him to earn it and he has been. Especially the missed three, goes after it steals it and back to LeBron for the nice dish, it was an awesome play probably swung the momentum.

Snow, Jackson, James, Gooden, Z

And Eric Snow has earned my full respect, he plays his heart out and leaves everything on the floor and I apologize for any "anti" Snow comments I've ever made I really like this guy.

In a mumbled tone I'll say "me too".

Mike Brown needs to strap on a backbone and bench Jones, regardless of what antics and comments he makes. It will earn him more respect from the rest of the team. It's obvious that Jones is in a slump. (He hasn't even been close on many of his shots. It's not like they are in-and-out and he's barely missing. Some are even air balls.) He is bringing nothing to the floor and the team has been down 9-10 points in the first quarter of the past few games because of it. The rest of the team can surely see what we can see. They are probably wondering when Brown is going to give him some pine time. He gave him 3 shots to start. That's fair in my opinion. He has done nothing to earn more starts. The Cavs can't keep battling out of 10 point holes each game in the 2nd Q.

I'm on the start Luke bandwagon. Compare him to Jones when they miss a shot. Jones starts wandering back on D. Luke hustles for the offensive rebound and makes a great assist for a LeBron dunk. He won't get the rebound every time. But, at least he tries. Besides, his hustle and size are a big advantage over Jones. Newble's game is still too rusty for major starter's minutes. Keep bringing him in as the defensive stopper as needed. Luke will make some mistakes. But, I actually think he will adjust much quicker playing with the starting unit and knowing he'll have regular minutes. Some of his mistakes now are because he has so much energy bottled up and he doesn't want to screw up when he gets a few minutes of action. It's classic nerves. That would go away in a game or two as a starter. I think it would actually be less stressful for him than waiting for the random spot time. Give him at least 6 or 7 games and see how he does.

Starting Newble kills 4 birds with one stone. We need Newble to help set the defensive tone and hope he can get few shots with in the offense, this should help his offensive production later in the season.

Thats 2 birds, now the 3rd will be getting Jackson in the game for 10-15 minutes and see if he can still bring it and develope more.

The 4th bird will see if Jones will get back in rythem off the bench. Jones don't drive and to slow to, so he won't get to the line. The line is a shooters best friend, when i played ball and struggling, i relied on the line and it helped me get out of my slumps. Maybe jones now need to do what he did before, come in hoist a few shots with in the offense at times and if it's not hitting take him out and then later insert him again and have him take a few more shots with in the offense.

This way if we start off sluggish, having snow and Newble set the defensive tone would get us going until we can get some shots in. Since Newble isn't ready for big minutes, you give them to Jackson and Jones and hope one or both produces. With jones on the bench his play won't have a huge negative impact even when he's not shooting well.

Snow/Jones/Wilks
Newble/Jackson/Jones
James/Jackson
Gooden/Marshall
Z/Marshall/Gooden/Hendu

I'll have nighmare flashbacks from last year if they start Newble.

Double James on the wing, pack the lane and force Snow or Newble to hit a jump shot.

It's better than having jones start and brick everything, but then again it's a slump and i doubt Brown will take him out of the starting lineup. So i'm hoping Jones get out of his slump.

Jackson does not need alot of minutes yet, i don't think he's ready to start. But i believe giving him more minutes should happen.

I say give Damon one more chance. If hes not going to solve his shooting problems at the Q then hes definately not going to on the road. Damon has done very well off the bench, his last few starts have been bleh. Maybe if he "limits" his 3 point shot attempts to like half of his shot selection he can get something going offensively. He is supposedly a very good off the ball defender, thats a plus, right?

I'm a little hesitant on Luke though. I just dont see him as starting material yet. Get him some consistent bench minutes, see what he does with them, and if its good stuff and theres still a starter problem, then lets talk Luke.

That leaves Ira. Now this resembles last year's starting 5 a bit because it was the starting 5 last year at a point. Last year the starting 5 wasn't the problem so much though, it was that we had nothing off the bench, and usually the starting 5 could stay with any other 5. Ira's offense hasn't been good or anything lately, so thats a concern, but I think Snow is doing fine. He shoots a good percentage, plays hard, and can play some D. What needs to happen is some plays need to get run for Drew. His offense will be needed with Ira and Snow in the back court. Those 2 are efficient at best but not scorers.

Basically I think we're seeing how much Larry impacted this team. Sure, he hasn't played the numbers he played last year, hes not going to be in all-star consideration, and his percentage is down, but damn, it was nice to have a guy who was very dependable on both sides of the ball starting at the 2.
